As a boy's name...?
What might it get shortened to?

Oakenshield Grin

HorryIsUpduffed · 29/03/2013 12:43

Oakenshield, yes.

That aside, I'm not convinced. I think it is quite sensitive as boys' names go.

zoetstoffen · 29/03/2013 13:05

I love Torin, it's one of the few names I've got on my list for a second boy. I can't imagine it being shortened though - Tor is the only logical place for it to go.

nectarini1983 · 29/03/2013 13:55

Different. ....think I like it.

gertrudestein · 29/03/2013 15:25

hmm yes, have just googled the Hobbit connection ... DP will probably be impressed but me, not so much.

Am worried that it might be shortened to Tory which would make me want to kill someone

I knew a Taran and a Thane.
Thorin (apart from Oakenshield) could be shortened to Thor.

DessieLou · 29/03/2013 20:04

I'm not sure it would get shortened really. I know a Torran who is just Torran. :-)

Cakethrow · 29/03/2013 20:20

I love it too, although I would never shorten it.
(I have a little boy called Torran though so am biased.)

soontobeslendergirl · 29/03/2013 20:22

I know a Torin - it's always Torin.

It's a lovely name and not shortened for the one I know.

aufaniae · 30/03/2013 03:39

Lovely name :) I guess it'd be shortened to Tor?

bigbluebump · 30/03/2013 07:41

Torin is a great name! I know one who is always Torin - no need to shorten imo.

devonsmummy · 30/03/2013 07:42

I know a Toran - gets called Tozza or Toz

BlueFishWonder · 30/03/2013 07:46

Lovely name, also love Tarrin.

shallweshop · 30/03/2013 07:49

I like it and would guess Tor would a possible shortened version.

MERLYPUSS · 30/03/2013 18:57

Torrid?

LynetteScavo · 30/03/2013 18:58

I too thought Torrid. Sorry.

BoringTheBuilder · 30/03/2013 19:03

Didn't read the thread but sounds like a car name. Or even a pushchair name. Sorry

delilah88 · 30/03/2013 20:01

No. Sounds like Torrid.

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 31/03/2013 00:23

Don't really like it, it sounds made up.

Selks · 31/03/2013 00:30

Fab name

howcomes · 31/03/2013 00:30

I knew a Torran at school, he was always Torran it wasn't ever shortened. I like it :)

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/04/2013 08:17

It's lovely, one of my favourite boys names. I wouldn't shorten it though,it doesn't really seem to lend itself to being shortened.
