I keep seeing comments about names being 'trendy' and will 'date'. Apart from not really knowing what this means, I was hoping you could maybe please could you share the names 'trending' in your area.

Many thanks.

ps) this is not a name bashing thread, just really interested as it would seem I like these names BlushWink

Does anyone know a Matilda who's not called Milly or Tilly?

Love Isla, a bit gutted to see it become so popular..

I know a Matilda who is known as Tilda.

If I had a pound for every Ava I know.. I'd have about £6. Ditto Lexie, ditto Isla. Elodie v popular round these parts too

Yy to Arlo and also Otis.

Thankfully no Kai/Kayden/Jayden type names though.

Megsdaughter · 28/03/2013 20:16

I know a Matilda, who is only known as Matilda, in fact wont answer to anything else ( she also has Isla in her name)

chickensaladagain · 28/03/2013 20:21

all boys are either called harry or george

girls Ivy, Amelia, Lily

nectarini1983 · 28/03/2013 20:22

Riley seems really popular here. ..and Oscar too.

Isla, Isabella and Olivia overload too!

upholsterer · 28/03/2013 20:23

Sophie, Emily, Evie
Jack, Oliver/Ollie

Claxonia · 28/03/2013 20:29

All of a sudden Daphne's are everywhere here (am in France). Makes me think of Daphne in Neighbours when I was at high school!

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 28/03/2013 20:29

Lots of Eleanors round these parts too. And whilst it's not high on the name charts (yet) I've come across a couple of Arabellas.

number41 · 28/03/2013 20:32

Harry, Max, tons of Jacks, William, Louis
Amelie, Emily, Amelia
Taylor and Taylers whom I dont know.if they are boys or girls. Must chech nursery photographs.

CPtart · 28/03/2013 20:39

Millie, Tillie, Ellie, Ella, Isabel/la, Eva, Ava, Evie, Lily, ......

Alfie,Charlie, Lucas, Oliver, Harry, Noah, ......

IroningBoredDaily · 28/03/2013 20:48

Ella, Ella-Mai, Ella-Daisy, Ella-Rose etc etc
Evie, Eve, Eva, Ava etc
Isabella, Isobel, Isabella
Poppy, Lily, Ruby, Rosie, Milly, Molly, Tilly.

Would be nice to see some more unusual names around now as these are becoming a bit boring imo.

mewkins · 28/03/2013 20:51

Quite a few Dylans and Williams here. Mille and Lily seem fairly popular too.

Flowerygirl, my sister and I argue over whether diminutives are proper names all the time! I say go for the proper name (although a baby called Charles seems a little heavy!)

mrstowers · 28/03/2013 21:20

Isabelle and Noah at the moment

mrsbungle · 28/03/2013 21:26

How could I forget Jack. There really are a lot of Jack's here.

I know a Matilda who is just Matilda - no shortening (yet, anyway, she was born in September).

Beatrixpotty · 28/03/2013 21:37

Oscar,Finlay,Noah,Oliver
Emily,Jessica,Olivia,Isabelle

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 28/03/2013 21:39

We know a Matilda and she's Matty.

We seem to go in for the unusual names round here, which very quickly become usual and very commonplace. Freya seems to have gone a bit like that. I like the name, it's not one of my dc's names but its nice. One of the little girls at my dd2's preschool though is called Thureyya. They thought they'd spell it and pronounce it completely differently to the norm. Grin

number41 · 28/03/2013 21:49

Shock thats a bit ridiculous...

number41 · 28/03/2013 21:51

I love Eliane with the diminutive Ellie, as she can choose diferent name or more common nickname. I believe Eliane is French for Elaine

BNmum · 28/03/2013 21:51

Finlay, Archie, Harry & jack. Freya, Amelia & Isabelle

bigbluebump · 28/03/2013 22:00

Ellie, Evie, Poppy, Tilly, Milly, Ruby, Emily, Olivia, Eva, Ava

Alfie, Charlie, Artie, Archie, Ollie, Jack, Harry, Finn, Jack, Max

are all VERY widely used and feel very trendy and are likely to sound dated as people tire of them.

forevergreek · 28/03/2013 22:04

Arthur, William, Henry, Alexander, Rafe ( know at least 2/3 of each)

Isabella, Tabitha, Matilda, Iris ( a couple of each also)
