Abraham?

What do people think of the name Abraham (nn Abe)? I really like it, but is it too much? Also, and sorry if this is too demanding but if you hate it, could you mention a boy's name or couple of names that you do like so I can see if we just have different name styles/tastes or if it truly terrible!

Thanks very much.

Like it a lot but prefer Bram as nn, not Abe.

Love Abe! Also like Art.

ZZZenAgain · 27/03/2013 19:58

It is quite a strong name. Just makes me think of Abraham Lincoln really. I think for me it is an old man's name but if you like it, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Calmisthemantra · 27/03/2013 19:59

I love it. This has been top of my list for a while. I also love AbelSmile

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 27/03/2013 20:07

Love it but prefer nn Bram or Abram!

Gimmeechocolate · 27/03/2013 20:44

We are going to call DC3 Abe if he is boy! I love Abraham but our surname is 3 syllables and starts with A so would sound a bit too much! Also like Seth, Elias and Jobe.

Knitella · 27/03/2013 21:19

I absolutely love Abraham - I would go for Abe as the nickname too. It's in our top 2 or 3 at the moment.

I think it is a strong yet kind sounding name. Much like Joseph.

mathanxiety · 27/03/2013 22:04

Lovely name.

I also love Solomon, Joseph, Jeremiah, Josiah..

delilah88 · 27/03/2013 22:06

I met a man called Braham once.

Bessie123 · 27/03/2013 22:08

Bram Stoker wrote Dracula, just so you know!

I like Abraham and Abe. Might be a wee bit of a mouthful maybe? That's he only only slight hesitation I would have. Abrham is long and abe v short and thereks not much in between.

Other names I like are Leo, Joseph, Milo, John, Dominic.

ja9 · 27/03/2013 23:12

It's a bit much for me...and I generally like OT names....do like Abe though..

OkayHazel · 28/03/2013 00:14

You and your DH can have different nicknames for your DC! My Mum and Dad have an Alexander who gets Sandy from Mum and Alex from Dad.

bigbluebump · 28/03/2013 14:16

Abraham is a lovely name - strong, classic and masculine! And not overused! Abe is a great nickname, but Bram is good too. Why not wait and see?
