Love the name - pronounced to rhyme with Paris. Is this how you pronounce it too? THANKS!

The carys I went to school with pronounced it to rhyme with Paris.

Ihatepeas · 16/03/2013 22:01

Yes it rhymes with Paris. It's gorgeous!

morethanpotatoprints · 16/03/2013 22:06

I knew somebody at school who was Welsh and pronounced it Kerris.
but carys rhyming with Paris is beautiful

Thurlow · 16/03/2013 22:08

I'd go for Kerris, if I just saw the name written down. Probably is some ill-judged attempt to make it sound Welsh...

'Carris' would make me rhyme it with Paris. Or maybe Carrys?

mrsv2 · 16/03/2013 22:12

the carys i know rhyme with paris

slightlysoupstained · 16/03/2013 22:13

There are two quite similar Welsh girl's names:

Carys - as above, pronounced like Paris.
Cerys - pronounced Kerris

I think both are lovely names.

MajaBiene · 16/03/2013 22:13

Cerys = Kerris
Carys = like Paris

loubielou31 · 16/03/2013 22:14

Carys rhymes with Paris, you are right.

crazynanna · 16/03/2013 22:15

One of my grandaughters name. Rhymes with 'Paris'...but she does get called Cas Smile

mathanxiety · 17/03/2013 03:24

There is also a Greek name Charis that is pronounced the same. Means grace.

Alisvolatpropiis · 17/03/2013 10:03

As other have said;

Carys - rhymes with Paris
Cerys - kerris

Christelle2207 · 17/03/2013 14:23

I'm a welsh speaker and the others are correct.

AmandaPayneNeedsaHoliday · 17/03/2013 15:15

Carys rhymes with Paris.

Cerys - as in Cerys Matthews. It's Kerris.

Not a Welsh speaker or with any material Welsh links, but I do know the difference between the two names and the difference in pronounciation. I wouldn't think you'd have big problems with people 'getting' it.

eachtigertires · 18/03/2013 19:39

I know 2 Carys' and they both pronounce it to rhyme with Paris.
