This seems to be rising to the top of my ever expanding list. I was thinking possibly Iris Clementine or Iris Kitty maybe?! Do you know many little girls called this....if so, do they like their name?

Smile love Iris
don't know any

but wouldn't go for I-risk-it-y IYSWIM even though I love both names Grin

I love Iris! Prefer Clementine to Kitty,it just feels like more of a proper name. I only know one young Iris & her name is spelled Irys which I'm less keen on.

Dinosaurhunter · 12/03/2013 18:07

Beautiful name , I have a friend with a iris arabella

toobreathless · 12/03/2013 19:02

LOVE it. Front runner for DD2 (36 weeks pregnant) but concerned it was a bit 'matchy' with DD1s name which is also nature based.

My other concern was that I think it might soar in popularity. Not sure quite why I think this, I worry it might be the next 'Isla'.

I know one under 1 yr and have heard it used a couple of times at baby groups again all in the under 1s.

CurlySuePreciousPeach · 12/03/2013 19:11

Toobreathless yep I think it could be on the rise but hopefully it won't be the next Poppy, Daisy or Lily! I really don't want anything too popular!

My DD (3) is called Iris ! Not met another one under 80 that is ! Go with it it's a fantastic name !

CurlySuePreciousPeach · 12/03/2013 19:22

ILoveMimisabel do you get positive reactions to your dd name?

I love Iris!

toobreathless · 12/03/2013 19:43

curly I really don't think it will be the next poppy/daisy/lily it's not 'cutesy' enough. It might be the next Beatrice or Florence but is this is a problem? Doubt it.

FWIW DD1 is Hazel, DD2 will be Celeste and if we ever have a DD3 it will be a strong contender :)

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 12/03/2013 19:46

Really love it...don't know any either.

KatamariDamacy · 12/03/2013 19:56

I have an Iris! People seem to like it. I've met a few other Irises lately too though.

CurlySuePreciousPeach · 12/03/2013 19:59

Oh Hazel is nice, I also like Celeste....you have great taste toobreathless Smile

Love love love it. DS2 would have been an Iris had he been DD. Please use it as I never will!

ILoveMimislabel · 12/03/2013 20:21

Yeah totally positive ! Everyone says that it's lovely and unusual. Go for it I did wonder if it was a bit old but it's so not and works well for us. Her middle name begins with J so we call her IJ (idge) but only we do !

Gimmeechocolate · 12/03/2013 20:28

My 6 year-old dd is Iris Matilda. Everybody loves her name and she loves it too. Only knew an 80 year old previously but there is now one other Iris in the reception class at Dd's school. I do think it is becoming popular as it seems to be on a lot of these threads but if you love it, go for it!

nutella81 · 12/03/2013 20:41

Great name... It's my 8mth old DD's middle name :)

AmericasTorturedBrow · 12/03/2013 20:42

LOVE IT, was desperate to name DS Iris but DH totally poo pooed it. She would have been Iris Juliet (she's Maggie Juliet instead which I love but will always feel like its second best)

AmericasTorturedBrow · 12/03/2013 20:42

Er...DD, not DS!

notso · 12/03/2013 20:53

LOVE LOVE LOVE Iris it's my favourite flower.

CurlySuePreciousPeach · 13/03/2013 10:42

Great responses so far! I think it is definitely moving to the top of he list!

I love it.

It is on my short list for this baby.

telsa · 13/03/2013 14:57

I really dislike it. Makes me think of eyeballs. Also find it harsh. Celeste on the other hand is really beautiful. A name that combines both and has the softness of Celeste might be Inez. I much prefer your middle names actually.

nectarini1983 · 13/03/2013 20:11

Still see it as an old lady's name, sorry!
