So I have narrowed my choices down to these two. I know they are pretty similar but which wold you choose?

Both cute but I think Betsy is 'cooler' somehow... Not sure why!

mrssmooth · 08/03/2013 11:13

Betty! My dd3 is Elizabeth and we shorten her name to Betty (although she is Elizabeth at school!) Although Betsy is rather cute too. Would this be the "full" name, or is it short for something? Aren't I very helpful?! Hmm

bassingtonffrench · 08/03/2013 11:18

ooh lovely. I would call her Elizabeth and then Betty or Bessie. Betsy is nice but awkward in the mouth - if that doesn't sound too strange!

Did you know in the magic faraway tree books the Bessie has been renamed to Beth because it is deemed more 'modern'? Misguided I say.

Betsy Betsy Betsy Betsy Betsy!

vess · 08/03/2013 13:39

Love both! Sorry not helpful! And they could both be shortened to Bette which I also love.

FriggFRIGGisPoorlySick · 08/03/2013 18:34

Uh...well....maybe just a leetle bit Grin

StrawberryMojito · 08/03/2013 18:38

Betsy.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 08/03/2013 19:25

I like both but slightly prefer Betsy.

Parisbanana · 08/03/2013 19:35

Prefer Betsy

lakeofshiningwaters · 08/03/2013 19:35

Betty is very sweet. Have known a couple, from babies to in their 80s and all have been kind, clever and somehow cool!

Betsy does not sound nice and looks ugly written down, imo. Also sounds to me like a stage school brat, though that could be the Denise van Outen connection.

ClaraBean · 08/03/2013 19:49

I prefer Bess/Bessie!
But out of those two I prefer Betsy.

freerangeeggs · 08/03/2013 20:34

I prefer Betty. Betsy is a bit cutesy-poo (though I kind of like it too)

LuluLovesYou · 08/03/2013 21:25

Clara Bean yeah I like Bessie but my df always called his cars Bessie Confused

Betty is best.

Betsy is twee and wet IMO.

OkayHazel · 08/03/2013 23:41

Betsy!

getmeoutofthismadhouse · 09/03/2013 05:01

Betsy ! But think I would call her Elizabeth and nn to Betsy .

raisah · 09/03/2013 07:02

I Know a Betsy-Coco & a Betsy-Rose. Both names appear as they are on the bc. Personally, I would go for Elizabeth & then shorten it to Betsy. An adult Betsy might not be taken seriously if she becomes a high court judge but an Elizabeth would!

janey68 · 09/03/2013 11:43

Betty is way cooler than Betsy IMO. Betsy sounds more cutesy and suitable for a baby, but as an older child and teenager Betty has a great ring to it.
Bette Davis eyes.... (I know it's a different spelling but..)
