boy's name suggestions

We are stuck for a boy's name.
we don't want religious names or anything too popular we also don't want a family name (too many to list !)
so far we can only agree on Oscar which I think might be too popular although we will probably go for it anyway ! we liked Scarlett or Imogen for a girl. so any suggestions for other boys names ?

I also would prefer a name that can be shortened.

Oscar can't be shortened Hmm

How about:

Emerson (Emmet)
Finlay (Finn)
Harris/Harrison (Harry)
Joel (Joe)
Edgar (Ed)

Or if you go without the shortening options:

Elliot
Miles
Theo
Keir

Alexander (Alex, Xander)
Benjamin (Ben)
Jacob (Jake)
Oliver (Ollie)
Maximilian (Max)
Elijah (Eli)
Lucas (Luke)
Joshua (Josh)
Christopher (Chris, Kit)
Theodore (Theo, Ted, Teddy)

Agree Tobias (Toby) is very nice, or Alexander, (Ally, Alex, Lex, Xander, Sandy).

How about Rafferty, (Raf, Rafa, Rafe, Raffa, Rafi) or Edward, (Ed, Eddie, Eddy, Ned, Ted, Teddy)?

Oscarandelliesmum · 07/03/2013 12:09

We have an Oscar shortened to Oscie, it's not too popular in scotland yet!

Choccybaby · 09/03/2013 20:10

Oswin? nn still could be ozzy though.

Assajjventress · 09/03/2013 20:18

Robert nn rob, robbie, bob, bobbie, bert, bertie
Lovely on a baby, boy & man

lifesobeautiful · 09/03/2013 21:10

I loved Oscar when we were thinking of a boy's name, but unfortunately knew too many. I think Otto is lovely - and quite similar to Oscar, without being too common! Other suggestions:
Rafe
Raphael (shorted to Raff or Rafe)
Sebastian (Seb or Bastian)

curlyclaz13 · 11/03/2013 19:10

lots of nice names that we already have ruled out mainly as OH doesn't like them ! he doesn't like nearly every name I suggest. silly man. Wink
