Baby name dilemma a

Need some outside input on this please as DH and I keep going round in circles.

I have a whole list of lovely boy names for DS1 who is due next month. DH on the other hand seems to hate all boy names except Jack. I love this name too but we're worried about using it for two reasons.
A) it's super popular and worried there will be lots of other Jacks in his class
And b) his parents have dogs and one of them is called Jack.

Should we try and find some other name we both like (uphill struggle) or do you think the reasons given aren't that big of a deal?

If you love the name go for it. My DH and I could only agree on the name George for our DS. Two of our friends have dogs called George but it doesn't bother us!!

Thanks. That's what my heart keeps telling me but its our first baby so we're stressing over the name to make sure it's right.

What is your list?
I think its a bit rubbish to hate everything except Jack tbh. Its nice to have a few to mull over and then take a short list in with you and when he's born then decide. For your dh to just say Its Jack and thats it is taking a lot of the fun out of it and not really compromising.

Dylan
Caleb
Just to name a couple which spring to mind. Aside from jack he did like Alexander but I don't as I work with an Alexander and he's horrible.
I don't think he's trying to be awkward on purpose it's just that we both have large families and brothers / sisters have already used any other names he did like.

For me, being named after the dog would be a complete no no.

My cousin gave her dd1 the same name as her dog

I have a Jack and nearly changed it last minute as i felt it was too popular. We couldn't agree on another boys name so went with Jack. I was really surprised when he started school that not only were there no other Jack's in his class there are non in the whole infants. There are 2 in the juniors so might no be as popular as you think. I would stick with it I would have regretted now if I'd gone with a name I liked less.

I'm hoping if we do use it the fear of its popularity will have put others off using it. If only the blooming dog wasn't called it. Maybe I'll get in laws to change the dogs name!

How about Joe (Joseph) instead of Jack?

I don't think the reasons are that big a deal. Jack is a lovely name.

Before we found out we were having a girl, I loved Edward, but my mums dog is Eddie so it wasn't even a consideration.

Nothing wrong with the name Jack, and there aren't that many of them. The dog being called Jack is a silly reason not to use the name if you both like it.
Maybe you can pick the middle name?

TOTALLY agree with Donkeys If the dogs gone before your DS has started school, you're laughing.
