First name Yvaine - middle name?

We have our boys name sorted - eithe either Reuben James or Reuben John.

Girls name less straightforward in as much as I have chosen Yvaine for her first name, please no derogatory comments as I do really love it and like our older DD's names it holds some considerable meaning.

But I am at a loss for a middle name to go with Yvaine (Yvie for short) - ideas much appreciated.

What's your surname like? How many syllables, any particular associations/nationality?

Our surname is double-barrelled - two short UK surnames so four syllables.

I just can't make it work in my head, May is nice, but very common and I have no particular affection for the name, DD's middle name is an elderly and much loved relative so I'd like to have a name I have some attachment for.

Sorry to be ignorant but is it pronounced like a mixture of Yvonne and Elaine? Is it eee-VAIN? I've not heard it before so hard to suggest what might go with it if I'm not sure how to say it.

If you're going with very traditional/Biblical names for a boy (assuming you may have some more children), you might want to think along the same lines for Yvaine's middle name. Perhaps Yvaine Rebecca or Yvaine Hannah?

For some reason Louise or Lucy seem to go well to me- I think a two-syllable name works well.

I went through that entire baby names thread (the one where everyone lists the names of all the children they know) last night and couldn't really find anything which leapt out at me, I did like Rosa

Lucia? Something with two syllables, ending with an 'a' sounds right to me.

OP that's a pretty name, imo the second name could be quite simple, one or two syllables. Maybe two since your surnames are each one syllable.

You've probably done this already, but can you go through names and middle names of relatives that you knew and loved, or names from your family tree? Is there anyone who did something notable, IR sounded like they had an exciting life?

In response to the suggestion that May is a common name, I'd say it was a popular name. There a huge divide between popular and common although obviously I'm not going to post my personal opinion on this.

Failing that, how about names of notable feminists: Emmeline, Christabel, Sylvia..?

If there is no particular middle name you want to use, you don't have to give one!

I have no middle name , DH and the DC have no middle names, we suffer no detriment and it saves time filling in forms .

Especially as she will have a double barrel surname (like my DC) and spend a lot of time going ' Y - V-A ' etc ( like me!),
