Rio...?

For a middle name for dd Edith. Im looking for a modern wacky (but not stupid!) name to juxtapose with the classic first name. As in 'her name is Rio and she dances on the saaaaannnnddd!' I like the idea of a lovely sensible English first name (nn Edie probably) and then BANG it goes all secretly exotic in the middle! (Nt a fan of Ria) ideally one syllable and I like a Spanish connection as dd will be born in Spain!

Other choices so far would be

Edith Lyra
Edith Newlove (family Christian name for men)
Edith Penelope
Edith Nieve (with this spelling as it means snow in Spanish)

And am very much open to suggestions!

What do you think?!

Rio is masculine. Have heard it as a surname, rarely used in Spain as a forename for boys.
What about Luna,Selva,Mar,Estrella?
If you are going with a nature theme.

Love Edith, by the way. Although difficult for the Spanish to pronounce the TH!!

I know, they say Edit! But we will not be here for long so it won't affect baby long term.

But I LOVE Mar, why hasn't I thought of that! Fabulous!

Yay!! Hope you use it, a friend has a lovely daughter named Mar.
I think it's a gorgeous name. Edith Mar.

Rio reminds me of the footballer, Rio Ferdinand. Mar is much nicer!

Noooo football! although possible way to sell it to DH...

He maintains Mar and Rio are not names and has, all of a sudden, decided he thinks that Robin is the best name, EVER, for a girl or a boy.

I have to say that IMO Robyn is nicer than Edith. Also don't really see Penelope as 'exotic', but think that it would be nice as a first name too.

Quite lie Ines, Reia, marcella, Dolores & estelle.

I think Edith Mar is FABULOUS

No Penelope isn't exotic to me either nowplaying but Lady Penelope was my childhood heroine and I always planned to name a child that!

Edith is pretty much mutually agreed on, he has other favourites and so do I, but unfortunately they don't match up! She'll be Edie really. I'm not keen on Robyn but it would be lovely for DH to have more input rather than just vetting the names I come up with and if its only a middle name maybe I should go with it to please him.... Hmm.....

Although I am a bit obsessed with Rio and Mar now!

I love Edith. Rio is just that bell end footballer. Mar is ok. How about Edith Noor? I love the name Noor.

Sorry missed the Spanish connection bit there.
