Boy name with nice meaning

Been a while since I?ve been on here ? busy, busy, busy! Right, to pick your brains ladies.

My son?s name means laughter. My daughter?s name means happiness. DH and I joke that this is our plan for their adolescence ? we will have a house full of laughter and happiness, not grumpiness and surliness! So, now we are expecting DC3 (all being well, as had two miscarriages last year) and think we?ve got a girl?s name ? Ruth ? means compassion/friendship. Fits in with the whole ?we will have a house full of laughter, happiness and friendship? thing.

But can?t think of a boy?s name that has a nice meaning along these lines. Any ideas?

I've got Silas and Timothy coming up under companion.

That's an interesting site, amck. I like the way they've done the etymology. Although I put my DD's name in and it came out with a slightly different meaning to the one I know - I shall have to check it now!

I tried hard to think of something to do with friendship, and all I can think of is Philip, which means friend of horses (or loves horses).!

I do like Stellan on Gwennan's list

I have a Noah - it means peace calm and rested - exactly what I'd like my son & household to be
