Both DH & I love the name Francesca and would like to use it our next baby, due in a few weeks.

However we already have DD called Jessica & I am worried that the names sound a bit too similar. What do you think?

Iam biased because thats my name Wink but my godsister is called Jessica and ive honestly never really linked the two. I think go for it - they will probably both get nicknames later in life any way (jess/jessie/fran/franki?) much to your annoyance!

Congratulations Smile

I think that's a little bit much tbh. cha-ca cha-ca

Charleymouse · 01/02/2013 12:29

Well not sure it would suit a boy but seems fine to me for a girl!

TwoCatsAndABabyBump · 01/02/2013 12:30

I know a woman whose two daughters are called this.

Thanks, that's good to hear....we are really struggling for names we both like so it's good to know that the one we do agree on doesn't have to be ruled out totally....

Lol Charleymouse, no not best suited to a boy. Boys names are a whole other minefield!

Tell me about it, I have two of each with forenames and middlenames!

In that we have managed to accomodate my DF first and middle name, DH mothers name, DH maternal grandmother name, my mother and sister middle name. Phew.
Hurts my head to even think about it. Although I do have my next boys name decided although not having any more.

Thinking about what I just put we obviously didnt think about this at all we just used the names of our nearest and dearest.

I have a friend with daughters called Jessica and Francesca (wonders if it's the same family TwoCats knows). They go well together.

HouseOfBears · 01/02/2013 19:30

Personally I think they're too similar sounding, sorry

JazzAnnNonMouse · 01/02/2013 19:58

They are quite similar sounding and IMHO I would only use if I already hardly used Francesca but shortened it or was planning on putting Jessica on the birth cert and always using Jessie Jess etc.
both nice names though.

Hummuschocolate · 01/02/2013 20:03

I knew id twins called Francesca and Jessica, I think they were known as Fran and Jess as teens which are obviously not that similar. So I don't think its a massive deal but imo they are quite similar. Sorry thats probably not very helpful!
