I am due in 4 weeks but just been diagnosed with OC.. So maybe induced in 2... Nothing better to focus the mind and get prepared! DH and I in a pickle with boys names.. We both love the name Monty but we have a 13 year old cat called Monty, DH has no problem with cat and child sharing a name... I just can't cope with it.. My other fave is Hector, he is less keen. Middle names are William Robert.. Any suggestions welcome! ? Ax

My first horse had the same name as my daughter, but they weren't alive at the same time. If you both love Monty, perhaps you could pick a NN for the baby to use while he's young.

We quite often call the cat monster.. So that could work.. It's just that everyone seems to know my cat and he has quite a personality so looks like we have no other names up our sleeves. Plus aside from me being distraught when something happens to him I will have to explain if the child or cat has been out down when the time comes!

Grin I know a cat called hector.

I.much much prefer Monty to Hector however as someone who also wanted to use her cats name for any boy babies, and wondered if it was ok, I wouldnt use it.

What about Edward, Benjamin, Christopher/Kit

AmyVP · 01/02/2013 07:21

Mmm thanks! Also like otto, Artie, mac or mack, Freddie, bertie... But just not as much as hector or Monty.. Want something unusual but cool and not pretentious.. So he could be a rock star or doctor! Thanks for suggestions! Ax

Gregory? Hugh? Ezra? Amos? I'm trying to think of the more old fashioned unusual names!

kazzy77 · 01/02/2013 07:36

we had a cat called maisie then when we got pregnant we changed her name to missy cause we liked maisie as a girls name and didnt want to have our baby share the same name as our cat. anyway we ended up having a little boy and we also dont have missy the cat anymore! funny how things turn out!

Yes have hugh/Hugo on the list too.. Just still don't sit perfectly! Driving me nuts!

If your call the baby Monty then your cat dies (sorry, he will eventually) you won't want to be saying Monty's dead.

it's too morbid I think.

Hector is cool but I associate it with a dog's name - perhaps don't listen to me!!! Grin

how about Hugo?

AntimonySalts · 01/02/2013 09:13

Monty and Hector are both fab names. I'd go for one of them if you love them!

amck5700 · 01/02/2013 09:20

Harris?
Edgar?
Dante? - you could rename the cat this too - he would never notice :)

AmyVP · 01/02/2013 09:50

I know.. That's my concern... Particularly when that day comes!!

Could you put the cat down now and rename the baby in his honor? :o

shoobidoo · 01/02/2013 10:01

I'd choose another name for your ds and leave the cat his name - I'm sure people associate Monty with the cat.

The meaning of Hector would put me off, but I think these are all underused, cool names:
Cosmo
Otto
Casper
Quentin
Dexter
Arlo

amazingmumof6 · 01/02/2013 11:03

amck you little weirdo!Grin

AmyVP · 01/02/2013 11:09

My DS would agree with you! :)

..i was joking btw....I have a cat too.....strangely we were never tempted to name the boys after it.....so I don't have any son's called Lucy!
