I saw that on fb. Crazy! Blaer is not even a particularly outlandish name is it? After 15 years, their system is obviously flowed if some technician at the registration section of the council can not press an override button.

I wonder if there have been any challenges to these naming restrictions, perhaps under the ECHR (interference with family life)?, or on discrimination grounds, if, say you come from a different culture. It does seem to be quite interventionist to me.a

Does anyone know any Icelandic names (apart from Bjorck)? What do they sound like?

Can you imagine restricting names here? I wonder how many names are currently in use in the UK. Thousands I should think! The more unusual and less commoon the better!!
