Well I prefer the name Francesca but prefer the nn Connie....sorry not much help. How about Franny or Frankie as nn for Francesca?

Fayrazzled · 31/01/2013 12:35

Don't like Chessie at all so it would be Connie for me.

Narked · 31/01/2013 12:35

If you go for those shortenings, Constance. I really don't like 'Chessie'.

claudiebelle · 31/01/2013 12:46

Love Chessie. Much prefer it to Connie.

tigrou · 31/01/2013 12:52

Francesca is definitely the best name. Don't like any shortenings for Francesca though. It's such a beautiful name in full.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 31/01/2013 12:54

I think a Constance will always be a Connie, but a Francesca will probably be a Frannie. VERY risky to choose a name on the basis that you can control its shortening.

Narked · 31/01/2013 13:06

Frankie? Cesca?

rainbow2000 · 31/01/2013 14:41

Chessie reminds me of chest so im thinking she will be known as Chestie not Chessie.
Frankie would me nicer imho

shoobidoo · 31/01/2013 15:22

Chessie and Connie are both awful imo.

I do love Constance and Francesca though - beautiful, feminine underused names! What is it with this obsession of shortening names to cutesy nicknames these days?

Rhubarbgarden · 31/01/2013 20:22

I can't bear Francesca and Chessie is just awful. Constance/Connie on the other hand are beautiful.

PercyClarke · 31/01/2013 20:36

Agree with the negative opinions on Chessie. I know a little Francesca who is known as Kessa, which I think is quite pretty and unusual.

mrstowers · 31/01/2013 22:41

Connie without a doubt.

amazingmumof6 · 01/02/2013 12:28

Constance is my prefernce

bryte · 01/02/2013 12:38

I love the name Constance and Connie, having known a lovely natured girl with this name.

aoife24 · 01/02/2013 16:28

Constance has a rather austere elegance, good perhaps when older. I do like Connie to. I think Chessie is rather grim.

Leeds2 · 01/02/2013 16:32

I like Francesca (nn Cesca, or Frankie) and Constance (nn Connnie). Lovely names. Not a fan of Chessie though!

milkymocha · 01/02/2013 17:10

Iam a Francesca shortened to Frankie and i like it!

RubyGrace17 · 01/02/2013 17:38

Prefer Francesca, definitely.

Ruby

CheeseStrawWars · 01/02/2013 17:45

Connie reminds me of Lady Chatterly, as in Lady Chatterly's Lover, Chessie reminds me of Chessie France-Lynch in Jilly Cooper's Polo. This in no way reflects my literary tastes. Wink

thegreylady · 01/02/2013 19:33

I love Constance [Connie] I have a beautiful, clever 13 yr old dgd named Connie :)
I like Francesca too but prefer nn Frankie to Chessie.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 01/02/2013 19:56

I like Francesca and chesca as the shortened version but there are so many possibilities it would be risky if there was a nn you hated for it.
Constance is v underused and elegant yet still maintaining a nice simple nn that suits all personalities iyswim Smile

Leafmould · 02/02/2013 19:59

Both great names, with choices for shortening. Good luck!

bluemintygel · 02/02/2013 20:01

Chessie???????

charlieandthechocolatecake · 04/02/2013 08:29

Francesca is future DD's nameSmile

I wouldn't shorten it, ever.

C0smos · 04/02/2013 11:26

I really don't think you can force a nn, if you don't like the full version then don't use it. Kids will come up with their own nicknames.
I know a Francesca who is known as Franka for example.
