Calling a son Nicholas but with the nickname Cole -- cool or what?

I like Cole as a name on it's own, its on my boys list for my next dc. I wouldnt think it came from Nicholas though. Do you like Nicholas or just using it as a 'proper' name? I think Cole's perfectly fine on its own.

Kbear · 27/01/2013 10:08

don't get the Nicholas connection really.... Cole is fine on it's own. We have a Cole in our family.

My cousin's little girl is Nicole and they call her cole....it's actually quite sweet. I also work with a computer guy called Cole and he is very cool and good looking. I think Cole stands on its own as a name as the above poster said. It reminds me of the little boy in Sixth Sense, he was a Cole.

(On a separate topic I just googled Sixth Sense to make sure he was called Cole. That movie is 14 years old!!) God, I am old.

Back to how you were :)

I know a bloke named Cole. I've always liked it just as it is though. I don't like Nicholas.

HillBillySillyBilly · 27/01/2013 10:53

I prefer Cole on its own though it is a good nn for Nicholas. I would consider Cole for next dc if there wasn't a boy in my ds school called Cole. Go for it.

Narked · 27/01/2013 12:59

Please don't.

SilveryMoon · 27/01/2013 13:01

I like Cole on it's own. I used to know a Cole, he was very cool.

lljkk · 27/01/2013 13:05

I guess okay. I wouldn't have chosen it as NN if I had a son called Nicholas (I wanted that name for DD).

JustAHolyFool · 27/01/2013 13:10

How can you choose a nickname? Surely they just happen. It will look sort of odd if everyone at school calls him Nick/Nicky and you're insisting his name is Cole.

Ficidy · 27/01/2013 13:45

Cole is nice. Don't like Nicholas at all.
