DP loves Charlton...

As it says really. He is absolutely set on it for some reason and I just can't warm to it at all. He says we can shorten it to Charlie, but a) there are SO MANY Charlies and b) I'd like to be able to use the baby's full name without cringing!

So I'm either looking for ways of persuading DP that it is a no-go, or for someone to tell me that it really isn't that bad and persuade me otherwise!!

Think it's the link to the actor rather than the football team. Will have to point out that Heston wasn't a nice guy in real life, no matter how much he likes his films

Charlton? Tell your DH you can use SE3 as a nickname I have been to Charlton many times. I would not name a child after it.

I thought of Charlton Athletic too. And does Charlton even mean anything? I hate this trend, American mainly, of calling kids after place names or surnames (Paxton, Camden, Mason, Coleton...)
Your choices have more substance, but they are very old school biblical names. Could you meet somewhere in the middle at just Charles?

DD3 was in school with a boy who amply earned the NN Carlton. A very funny running joke. 'Carlton' was unfazed.

Max isn't bad, either Maximilian or Maxwell or Maxim, or just plain Max. Charles isn't bad either but it is popular. Marc or Marcus are nice names, imo.

I also like Isaac a lot. I think Reuben is becoming a bit popular - (you know in that sneaky, unpopular name way that you give it to your child and suddenly everyone else has it kind of popular.)
