Mines are:

Ellie

George
Girl names ending in Lee, Lea, Leigh

I originally commented that it's a shame parents to be don't check most popular name lists. Of course as long as you like the name that is all that matters. I just think it's a shame when there are 10 kids with the name in your class! There were about 20 Sarah's in my year at school, it kind of takes the shine off the name!

However, my sister called her son a name I've never known someone to be called and she was pleased to have something different. He now has a friend in the small village they live in with the same name! So I guess you never know!

FWIW DC1 has a name that has mentioned a few times on this thread. DC2 has a name that's not in the top 100, which was a deliberate choice as we only realised how popular DC1's name was after we'd named her and we thought an over popular name was a bad thing.

But I prefer DC1's name loads to DC2's name. I wish we'd not cared about popularity lists and given DC2 one of the many lovely names listed on this thread!

If anyone has felt insulted by the way people have spoken of your Jayden - don't worry, it could be worse. There's a child in my son's class called Djayden.

Hmmm. DS1 is Oscar, which I love. It didn't occur to me that it would be particularly popular as I didn't know anyone else with that name. Seems I was wrong! It doesn't bother me - clearly lots of people of my generation have similar taste in names (not that suprising I suppose).

DS2 is James - when we named him James I assumed he would be one of many, but it would seem that his name is actually rarer than Oscar's these days.

Neither DS is at school yet but I know a lot of little girls called Grace, either as a first name or second name.

These kind of threads are a bit snooty.

I am, however, roffling at "a flood of Noahs"

Oliver, Ben, Noah, Finn,Tom, Monty, Archie - most families with more than one boy round here have a Ben. Why?! There are other much more interesting names.

Isabella/Isabel/Lily/Eve/Eva/Amelie

If you are a new parent avoid these (although nice names) as overuse has sucked all the appeal out of them (imo)

It's weird how names clump in areas. In East London, where we lived when DC were small, all the boys were called Ben and all the girls (about 5 in one small mums' group) called Tillie, Tilda, Matilda etc.
In Surrey lots of girls are called Amelie and lots of boys are Sam.

All nice names though, so not a big surprise.

Evie, lovely but every other little girl here is Evie! Tilly is also very popular also Scarlet and Grace. Lots of Charlies and Finlays too. Heard of a few Amelies recently too.

Here (Herts/Beds border) we seem to be overrun with Harry, Jack and Noah for boys. There are tonnes of all of them. Nice enough names though. For girls, there seems to have been a huge surge of Evelyn and Eva type names. For ages there was nothing like that, now there are masses.

I share the general feeling about Jaden/Jayden etc.

I've heard of 5 baby Lilah-Rose within the last year.

At first I thought I thought Lilah was a made up name, but seemingly not... unless everyone's making up the same name??? And always with Rose as the middle name or hyphenated?

Ewan - I don't think people mean to be snooty. It's just odd how some names suddenly crop up. My DS has a name no one's used for 10 years - it was over popular when I named him (still love it though) and now 2 friends of mine, opposite ends of the country, have both chosen that name for their newborn DSs. Names go in waves. Most of the names people have mentioned here are absolutely lovely. That's why they are used.

I have an Oscar. When we named him there were no others and lots of people openly disliked his name. He is nearly 15. I can't believe how popular it has become, I'm obviously a trendsetter! Grin

Reminds me that I knew a woman named Emma Lee. I thought it was Emily was ages. So much confusion.
