What do we think of Lara?

Really struggling for a girls name, I've got a few that I kind of like but nothing I really like. Then fell upon a friends sisters name which is Lara, nice & short and not too flowery. What do you think?

Thanks ladies, just ran the name by DH (obviously had to put it n here first before I ran it by him Smile) and his response was I'll consider it!!! Mentioned Lara Croft and now he's liking it a bit more Grin

I have one too and people are always saying what a lovely name she has. Pretty but not flowery. Dr Zhivago connotations too - Lara's song. Only downside is that we thought 4 letters couldn't be abbreviated - she gets called La a lot! Or Lala. Or Lardy (this last one isn't quite as mean as it sounds - she's only 22 months old - I must stop saying it though!! Wink)

What middle name are you thinking? If any?

At the moment we're thinking Elizabeth as a middle name, DH wanted it for a first name but it can shortened to so many other things so its been relegated to middle name Smilethe only thing putting me off Lara is our West Yorkshire accent and slack pronunciation of the letter r. Still loving the name but maybe need to change our accent in the next 4 months Grin

I've only ever known one Lara, and she was lovely and elegant, so it has positive connotations for me Smile I like it.

I really like it. Elegant and feminine but without being weedy or twee. It won't date too much either.

It's nice, I like Clara and Zara too (but not Tara oddly!).

I only know one baby Lara and one 5 year-old Lara, it's not of those that's annoyingly overused (not here at least).
