Really like it!

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 14/01/2013 01:44

I really like it, it's on the list. DH does not

lollydollydrop · 14/01/2013 01:46

Its nicer than Stella. I like names that can be shortened though- would nn's could you use? (or is that why you like it) Is it French?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 14/01/2013 01:57

I like it..if I had my way, Estella would be on our short list but DH is an inverted snob (just learned that turn of phrase but it suits him perfectly!) about 'posh' names.

berri · 14/01/2013 02:21

Oh I'm pleased! I hadn't seen it mentioned on here before so wondered if it was just me that liked it.

DH isn't raving about it but hopefully I can bring him round Grin

He says its a bit old lady-ish but I think it's lovely!

Lolly I don't think we'd end up using a nn - not for any particular reason though!

I seem to be drawn to French sounding names, even though we have no connection - I like Chloe too.

Google baby princess Estelle of Sweden.

RiaOverTheRainbow · 14/01/2013 04:41

Makes me think of Joey's agent in Friends, sorry.

ripsishere · 14/01/2013 04:49

Lovely name. As is Ottoleine.

MidnightMasquerader · 14/01/2013 06:33

Estelle Leonard for me too - but - I don't think most people now would think of her.

I definitely prefer it to Stella.

It's lovely, it doesn't have any particular associations for me.

survivingwinter · 14/01/2013 09:42

It's beautiful - was on my list for dd...

Reaa · 14/01/2013 09:47

Love it, was on my baby list for DD's too.

MolotovCocktail · 14/01/2013 09:57

I like it. I know a 20yo Estelle - she and her family are Greek and apparently, there was some pop singer who was famous in Greece around that time (?)

I've never met another Estelle; I had it in mind for DD1 but didn't go for it simply because of 20yo Estelle (I know her, but not very well. Might have looked like I named DD1 after her, which might have appeared odd, IYSWIM).

MoetEtPantsOn · 14/01/2013 11:19

I know a 3 year old Estelle. They call her Stellie

FloatyBeatie · 14/01/2013 11:21

It makes me think too much of the very cold-hearted woman in Great Expectations, vengefully trained by Miss Haversham to wow men with her beauty but to be incapable of loving them, and hence doomed to make them miserable.

Ficidy · 14/01/2013 20:04

Love this name. It's on my list. Just said it to dh too and he's not totally against it! Just have another 7 months to work on him some more. Great choice!

berri · 14/01/2013 20:23

Thanks everyone!

I was totally expecting to be put off, but now I feel like my mind's made up!

I feel relieved Grin

Ooh I like it. Unusual but classic - makes me think of great expectations.

aufaniae · 14/01/2013 20:34

I love it! I actually dreamt that we called our DD Estelle, and I have a lovely friend in RL called Estelle too.

DP doesn't like it sadly!

much prefer Stella, Estelle sounds a bit like some sort of 1980s TV has been with an estuary english accent

If you like the meaning (star) Tara and Seren are both much prettier names which mean star

Lollybrolly · 14/01/2013 22:25

I prefer Estee (pronounced Estaa)
