Hi
When you hear the name Leo what ethnicity do you assume the person to be?

I'm interested in to hear your thoughts without you knowing anything about me/my background/ethnicity :)

I don't associate it with any particular ethnicity TBH.

I don't really assume any ethnicity. Although I know a good few older (60+) Irish men with it. I love, love Leo as a name - it was on my shortlist for dd3

Our cat is called Leo, so I immediately think of a very large, very handsome tuxedo cat...

I think English white middle class. I don't know any Leo's from any other ethnicity and I know a lot of people from different countries/ races.

I guess I think of a blond hair blue eyed boy like my nephew, love the name and would have called DS2 that if it wasn't his cousins name!

I also know an Italian man, short for Leonardo.

Leo is/was popular in Ireland! But not uncommon in England. It was our choice for DD if she had been a boy. Don't think it has any particular ethnic connotations though.

I always think of Leo from Fame. Love that it's short for Leonardo.

I don't make any assumptions. However, in case you're thinking about using it, it's quite popular at the moment, I have 3 boys, aged 3 in my nursery all called Leo.

Leonardo is a lot better! And for some reason transcends ethnicity.
