I'm expecting our 2nd child and we don't know the sex. DS1 is called Isaac and I quite like Eli if this baby is a boy too. What do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AThingInYourLife · 11/01/2013 15:00

I have a feeling it's about to get really popular.

But it's not bad.

Ranthambore · 11/01/2013 15:01

I love it but then I have an Isaac and it was on my list when I was expecting number 2.

HolofernesesHead · 11/01/2013 15:02

NIce, a bit overused (amng people I know, anyway).

Hulababy · 11/01/2013 15:03

I teach a female Eli - said as Ellie.
I had originally assumed a boy from the register, sais Ee-l-igh???

Geranium3 · 11/01/2013 18:01

gypsy/romany name

CointreauVersial · 11/01/2013 18:02

Nice, like it.

dashoflime · 11/01/2013 18:05

I have an irrational fear of Eels and I don't like the sound of it cos it sounds like "Eely"

That's probably just me though Grin You should probably go for it

mrstowers · 11/01/2013 18:12

I really like it but would use Elijah as the full name.

poocatcherchampion · 11/01/2013 18:14

Bible name. Like it, but its getting popular with people I know.

Moominsarescary · 11/01/2013 18:14

It's been on my list for the last two ds (Elijah) as has Issac. Unfortunately dp is not as keen

Clargo55 · 11/01/2013 18:24

Lovely, I would use Elias as a full name.

tooearlytobeup · 11/01/2013 18:27

I love it.

Lafaminute · 11/01/2013 18:28

I adore it. It was my choice for ds (4) but I have a Lily too and didn't want to be confused with a pharmaceutical manufacturer (Eli Lilly). The only thing is that I thought an Eli might be called Ellie - maybe unless the full name was Elijah (love that too)

FellatioNels0n · 11/01/2013 18:29

It's alright. Don't love it, don't hate it.

It conjured up images of either Amish people or gypsies to me.

motherinferior · 11/01/2013 18:30

The only Eli I know is adorable.

ByTheWay1 · 11/01/2013 18:40

I had a friend named Eli - nicknamed Eli-Eli-ohhhhhhhhhh....

ClaraBean · 11/01/2013 19:02

Love it. My 10 year old ds is Eli so thats how much i.love it!

BikeRunSki · 11/01/2013 19:08

Immediate reaction - Chris Evans

littletingoddess · 11/01/2013 19:12

Immediate reaction: Eli Thompson, brother of Nucky from "Boardwalk Empire".

Then I remembered that it's also a Biblical name and rather lovely. :)

Dollydowser · 11/01/2013 19:18

It's a name I always think of as a joke name, sorry.

ellesabe · 11/01/2013 19:41

I would assume it was a nn for Elijah

VBisme · 11/01/2013 19:43

I thought it was a nn for Elijah as well.

It's a bit rural as a name. (A bit Seth-like iyswim) but very nice.

Rhubarbgarden · 11/01/2013 19:47

My friend has one. I really dislike it. Too religious maniac.

I really like it - we use it as a short form for Elijah for one of our boys.
