And yes, I know it's a surname as a name that does not bother me :)

Thoughts on Blake for a boy?

I think it's lovely - it's got a little bit of a hippy feel to it. I had an American friend called Blake when I was at college (though she was female).

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 08/01/2013 19:12

I know a truly lovely 4 year old boy called Blake Grin his middle name is William Grin

squoosh · 08/01/2013 20:51

Reminds me of a character from Home and Away in the 90s.

stargirl1701 · 08/01/2013 21:00

Carrington?

Dynasty 1980s.

surroundedbyblondes · 08/01/2013 21:02

Don't like, sorry. Have an old friend in real life who has one. Would never say it to her face though.

usualsuspect · 08/01/2013 21:03

I like it.

Rhubarbgarden · 08/01/2013 21:04

Reminds me of Flake. However, am on a diet so I see chocolate everywhere.

peachypips · 08/01/2013 21:10

How about Clarke? Similar but stronger?

Beamur · 08/01/2013 21:11

I like it.

sonnieboo · 08/01/2013 21:50

I'm not keen on it as a first name, sorry.

pinkandyellowbutterfly · 08/01/2013 21:55

a bit Home-And-Away teen soap star-ish for me (I'm an 80s child lol)

debbie1412 · 08/01/2013 21:55

My friend nearly had it as her sons name but she couldn't get Amy winehouse boyfriend out of her head.

willyoulistentome · 08/01/2013 21:55

nasty

debbie1412 · 08/01/2013 21:56

Oh god sorry if I've just put that image in your head.

rocket74 · 08/01/2013 22:02

its my daughters middle name!!
prefer it for a girl i think.

MirandaGoshawk · 08/01/2013 22:05

No.

And for a girl? Shock Why would you, when there are so many beautiful proper girls' names out there?

MirandaGoshawk · 08/01/2013 22:07

It's Blake Lively from ... whatever that US TV programme was - spoilt brats all bitching about each other & nicking boyfriends. Too trendy.

DisappointedHorse · 08/01/2013 22:09

I like it and am usually very traditional. It just flows nicely!

BluddyNora · 08/01/2013 22:10

I love it, would use it for my bump except I've already given it to my dog!!

willyoulistentome · 08/01/2013 22:17

yes - dog's name!..or aussie soap name

ladymia · 08/01/2013 22:39

I want to be talked out of the name Blake but none of the above reasons really put me off Hmm maybe i really like it and that's a good thing :)
