DD is Alice and we both like Edward for a boy but worry it looks like I'm a Twilight fanatic?

Am I over-worrying?!

Thanks!

You're over thinking it! Grin

Lovely names.

Catchingmockingbirds · 02/01/2013 12:10

I would think you've named them that because of twilight, sorry.

SurreyWithAFringeOnTop · 02/01/2013 12:30

I have never read or seen Twilight so would not make the connection at all.

You are overthinking it IMO - I have to admit I would do the same! But I don't see an issue at all.

badtime · 02/01/2013 12:34

Like many other people, I have never read or seen Twilight, and I would only recognise a few names from it. As long as you don't call your children Edward, Isabella, Jacob and Renesmee, I think it won't cross most people's minds.

CheungFun · 02/01/2013 12:34

I think you're over thinking it...if you had a Renesme then I'd think you were a massive fan Grin

OkayHazel · 02/01/2013 14:09

Twilight it on it's way out, and only really popular with teenage girls and tragic Fifty Shades mums.

When your kids are older, noone will make the Twilight connection.

AmandaPayne · 02/01/2013 14:10

It would not cross my mind.

Renesme is the only one that would scream it to me. Have never read any of the books.

Viviennemary · 02/01/2013 15:36

I've never read the Twilight books so wouldn't make that connection. And I doubt anybody will even remember these books in a few years.

AgathaTrunchbull · 02/01/2013 15:45

It's really not like naming your kids Ron and Hermione. Edward has many, many other associations.

LadyD84 · 02/01/2013 17:04

Thanks that is what I hoped, it doesn't really deserve to be remembered for years and it would be a shame if such nice names were forever associated with such drippy characters! (Although 50 shades has definitely ruined the name Christian which I also quite liked!)

Do you think in 10 years all the twilight obsessed teenagers will be having babies and Edward and Bella will become the no1 names?

AmandaPayne · 02/01/2013 17:45

Nah, they'll have grown out if by then. And Bella is so popular with this generation that they will think it naff and overused Grin

LondonInHighHeeledBoots · 02/01/2013 18:59

It had tainted it slightly for me I must say! Crappy author, good taste in names Angry I love a few 'Twilight' names that are forever off the list.

AlexanderS · 02/01/2013 19:23

No, they are both classic names with many associations apart from the Twilight one.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 03/01/2013 10:43

LadyD84 I think Christian is ok as it's quite a popular name, with many other Christian around. Anastatia on the other hand, is something I won't touch now.

TessOfTheBaublevilles · 03/01/2013 10:58

No - not at all - because they are both long established names.

They have other associations too, both are royal names for example.

monica77798 · 03/01/2013 12:18

Nobody will remember Twilight in 5 years. To be honest, I never would have made the connection from Alice and Edward anyway. They are both nice names, don't be put off by a series of lame vampire movies that nobody will care about in years to come.

Mockingcurl · 03/01/2013 12:23

My 20 year old son is called Edward. No one has ever said anything to him about Twilight or 50.

telsa · 03/01/2013 12:42

Don't even know what Twilight is - names are very nice. Twilight will be forgotten - whatever it was.And who knows what other names will gain other associations in future.

Snowflakepie · 03/01/2013 14:49

Edward and bella might raise eyebrows, but not Alice. They are lovely classic names, don't think anyone would really make the twilight connection tbh.

ScaredySquirrel · 03/01/2013 14:52

I have an Edward and an Isabella and no one has ever made the connection (we call him a nn of Edward though). in addition I am called one of the other names and my older son is too! No one has ever said anything!

LadyD84 · 03/01/2013 16:50

Thank you, that has put that worry to rest. Baby names used to be one of my favourite things to think about but now I'm feeling really stressed about it- even woke up in the middle of the night with my brain still churning it over and couldn't get back to sleep!
