Reuben

DH is convinced this is the name for us. It was his great uncle's name and he really admired his great uncle.

I used to love it but now I'm having doubts. Is it too popular? Too American? Too feminine when shortened? Too religious?

What do people think?

Love Reuben.

BikeRunSki · 28/12/2012 20:54

I don't think it is too popular, American, religious or anything. I think it is a very nice name, well known but not over used, and that your DH has a good reason or wanting to use it.

I know two young ones - Benny and Roo. I also had a Reuben bf a long, long time ago, so I am a bit biased. Although I seem to remember he was Ruben.

Cold Comfort Farm!

Alternatives are Seth, Micah or Ada for a girl. Also Flora.

Watch out for the Woodshed.

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 28/12/2012 22:03

I just googled Reuben from Cold Comfort Farm Ophelia. I'm not sure that's a great association!

Lovely classic name. I don't think of out as american at all.

FayKnights · 28/12/2012 22:09

Lovely name, I only know 2 and they are absolute sweethearts.

Pinkflipflop · 28/12/2012 22:20

Love it! It's what our ds, due early feb, will be called.

I love the name

5madthings · 29/12/2012 11:52

Lovely name, its my ds2's middle name.

Bakingtins · 29/12/2012 14:12

Love it, wanted it for DS2 but vetoed by DH because we also have an "R" surname and "the poor child might have a lisp" (??)

ShirleySharpeyes · 29/12/2012 14:17

I know two - both lovely. I think it's a great name.

AyeOopMoose · 29/12/2012 16:18

Lovely. Only known one but he was great.

OComeAllYeFaithBaby · 29/12/2012 16:28

Love it. Sadly wouldn't work with our surname.

Rhubarbgarden · 29/12/2012 16:45

I don't like it. I would assume a Reuben had very religious parents. Or lived on a farm in the American mid-west.

Great name!

TheBakeryQueen · 01/02/2013 20:54

Gorgeous strong name. It's an old testament name, so a classic, but not overused. I am biased Smile

AlwaysHoldingOnToStarbug · 02/02/2013 20:38

I have one! I love it, it's always been one of my favourite names. I'm not religious, despite him and his twin having biblical names. I've met a couple of others, but he's the only one in his school. I call him Roo or Rooly, but so far none of his friends shorten it.
