Friend's baby girl has this unusual name. Anyone know another?

Um, no!

SilentSplendidSun · 27/12/2012 15:45

Very common name in India. Its a name of the Mother Goddess in Hindu mythology, so quite a spiritual name....

mincepiethighs · 27/12/2012 15:49

No, but it makes me think of Ouma which is Grandmother in Afrikaans.

Just something to think about!

delilah88 · 27/12/2012 15:50

Uma Thurman?

Moominsarehippos · 27/12/2012 15:50

I assumed it was skandanavian (isn't Uma Thurman of skandinavian descent?). It's a harsh sounding name OO MA.

delilah88 · 27/12/2012 16:03

I really like it by the way, and Una.

InTheBoonies · 27/12/2012 16:31

I think of it as been a bit of a rich hippy name probably because Zac Goldsmith has a daughter called this!

I quite like it, though I prefer Una.

Rhubarbgarden · 27/12/2012 20:00

I don't like it. It makes me think of elephants. I don't know why.

badtime · 27/12/2012 23:43

moomins, I think Uma Thurman's mother is Swedish, but her name is not - she was called Uma because of her father, who is a Buddhist scholar.

bootsycollins · 27/12/2012 23:50

Gorgeous name, didn't know about the Hindu mother goddess connection but that makes me love it even more, big fan of Mia also.

vesti23 · 30/12/2012 11:29

Like it! it's lovely:)

Doesn't sound very unusual to me because of Uma Thurman. If we have a DD her middle name will be Una.
