i'm due in a couple of months. I think we've sorted our boys name, but still struggling a bit with girls names. This is our short list. Middle name is likely to be Rose.

Alice (timeless or boring?)
Florence (too popular? This is probably the front runner, but I'm really not keen on its associated nicknames)
Tabitha (DH to be convinced!)

Any thoughts gladly received! Thanks Smile

Alice.

Beautiful and timeless. Smile

Florence is also nice.

peachypips · 27/12/2012 13:23

Like Alice the best. Too many Florences! How about something like Louisa? Austenesque in the same was as Bea but not too common?

ManicMuppetMania · 27/12/2012 13:51

Florence and Tabitha are both lovely!
How about......

Emmeline
Cordelia
Romilly
Juniper
Matilda
Lucia

Alice is lovely, not overly exciting but lovely.

Florence is very 'of the moment' - too faddy for me.

Not sure about Tabitha - a bit prissy.

How about Iris? Or Harriet (Hattie), Violet (Lettie)?

DebK2012 · 27/12/2012 15:38

What about Alisa as a variant form of Alice Envy

delilah88 · 27/12/2012 15:53

Alice is lovely!

Mu1berryBush · 27/12/2012 16:08

Juliet
Margaret

a strong name, but I wouldn't go for another nam ending in 'ice' isss.

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 27/12/2012 16:14

Alice from your list.

Or Dorothy.

MoppingMummy · 27/12/2012 17:33

Or, Genevieve.

Cecily
Antonia
Olivia
Caroline

Love tabitha from your list - sadly my dh vetoed it.

CharlieBoo · 27/12/2012 17:38

I like Alice but agree its lovely but just a bit bland. I think Matilda goes nicely.

delilah88 · 27/12/2012 18:27

Alice is not bland! All names are bland when uninhabited by a person -- but imagine any of the women you know who are actually bland and then imagine they are called Alice and it makes them seem less bland!

LittleDonkin · 27/12/2012 18:31

How about Lilian? My 2 year old niece is called Lilian Beatrice and I think they sound lovely together

femmeaufoyer · 27/12/2012 18:53

I have a Beatrice and recently gave birth to DC2. He's a boy so I didn't get to use my girls name.....Audrey Rose. I think Beatrice and Audrey sound great together.

LetsBeHavingYou · 27/12/2012 21:05

Thanks for your suggestions everyone!

I particularly like Matilda, Iris and Harriet.

It's given me some food for thought...

I like my DCs names to go together but still be individual. Beatrice and Alice sound too similar for me. Love Harriet and would have used it for any of my 3, but DH vetoed due to a childhood connection!

Pleasenomorepeppa · 28/12/2012 15:52

Florence is beautiful. I have one & she's the only one in Pre-school out of 60 children!
