Her big brother's name is Daniel. Thanks!

Oooh, that's a tough one.

I kind of like the fact Frieda is slightly quirky.

Wildwaterfalls · 27/12/2012 13:08

I clicked on the thread to say I preferred Lana, but actually I think Frieda might go better with Daniel as it is more different, ifswim. Both work though, lovely names.

Lana

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/12/2012 14:44

Lana. No contest for me personally.

mathanxiety · 27/12/2012 19:12

Frieda -- far nicer than Lana imo. Lana is such a Hollywood Glamour Age name to foist on a baby and little girl.

Rhubarbgarden · 27/12/2012 19:52

Frieda.

sarahseashell · 27/12/2012 21:26

Lana

bamboobutton · 27/12/2012 21:47

Frieda

Lana is anal backwards. it will take seconds for school kids to pick up on that and quite possibly make her school life hellish.

MoonHare · 27/12/2012 21:59

I was going to say Lana but the anal comment has put me off it!

Don't like Frieda though, even with the additional letter I it still sounds like Freda when spoken and I feel it would be a step too far in old lady name chic, just too ugly.

Iris, Edith, Elsa, Ivy, Pearl, Anita???

Midge25 · 27/12/2012 22:01

Definitely Frieda-gorgeous

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/12/2012 22:55

I don't think the fact it's an anagram of anal is reason to put you off. I mean, people call their daughters Orla, which is lovely, and an anagram of oral.

As is Arlo.

bootsycollins · 27/12/2012 23:59

Lana for me please, beautiful name. Not loving Frieda, makes me think German pensioner.

SwedishEdith · 28/12/2012 00:07

Oh, Freida, definitely. Lana makes me think of Lana del Rey who is such a fake, contrived piece of nonsense. Frieda has the cool Scandi vibe.

jessjessjess · 28/12/2012 00:11

Lana out of those two but ideally neither sorry.

Alisvolatpropiis · 28/12/2012 01:05

In all honesty I think Lara is better than Lara. And I really don't like Frieda.

Your baby your choice of course. It's not as though you're suggesting Strawberry.

I'm sure I would think a young Frieda was lovely,as would I a Lana or Lara.

I always hated the name Agnes until I briefly met an adorable one aged 4/5. All of a sudden Agnes seemed a sweet and lovely name, because the little girl in question was.

Alisvolatpropiis · 28/12/2012 01:05

Ahem. *Lara is better than Lana

SomersetONeil · 28/12/2012 01:28

My children went to a play group with a sweet little blonde Frieda, and even she didn't improve the name for me. Really, really not nice.

I think Lana is great. Not a girl-ish name at all, but so what? You're an adult far longer than you are a baby or a little girl.

MoleyMick · 28/12/2012 01:43

Oh, Lana is just beautiful! And goes really lovely with Daniel too.

hatebeak · 28/12/2012 20:19

Frieda is brilliant. Lana is a bit insubstantial.

lottiegarbanzo · 30/12/2012 01:19

I like both. Frieda makes me think of Frieda Kahlo (sp?) and Frieda Hughes (daughter of Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath), so strong, independent, artistic yet not at all flowery or pretentious.

These names bring to mind Winifred and Willa for some reason.

fluffygal · 30/12/2012 01:32

I have a Lana (named before Lana del Ray appeared) and I still love it! Also don't think the spelling backwards matters, kids find anything to tease about- my daughter is a bean pole and is called fat for no reason! Have always been complimented on her name (except for on MN) so I say go with Lana.

vesti23 · 30/12/2012 10:44

Lana is lovely!

legalalien · 30/12/2012 11:05

My mother is called Lana. She hates it.

Don't call your child something that rhymes with banana. :)
