We have a baby Alexandra and like the nickname "Sasha". Do you think though that one has to be Russian to call a child like this? What do you think of the nickname generally?

I think it's nice and you can call your child whatever nickname you like

I know a boy Sacha, short for Aexander, and he is Russian heritage.

I think Sasha is pretty but so is Alexandra.

I know a male Sasha.

Nicknames evolve naturally and could include Alex, Sandra or Lexie (or Sasha if you like it).
