Absolutely love it. It was on my list, but I had a daughter and even if I didnt I couldnt really use it anyway :(

Mu1berryBush · 24/12/2012 09:38

I really like that. It's classic but unlike say Stephen or David it still sounds right for a baby. Especially a Christmas baby. Lovely choice! The Christmas connection is subtle. Even if you were going for Christopher I wouldn't think, oh that's so Christmassy. it's not like Carol or Holly for a girl.

Thankyou!!

love it! It's on my list for my imaginary DS Xmas Wink

Why are you worried about the Christmas connection?

Nicholas is a beautiful, timeless name. No way is it a naff Christmas name like Holly or Noel

Longdistance · 24/12/2012 11:39

No, I love the name Nicholas too. I wouldn't care about the Xmas connection, I think it's very fitting in fact.

mrsXsweet · 25/12/2012 21:49

It isn't the Christmas the connection that bothers me- I think it is sweet. For me I can't get past 'knicker-less' which was an incredibly juvenile pronunciation we used to use at primary school!

My father and son are called Nicholas. Both are lovely boys. Wink

Best boys name, ever. I wouldn't think of it being a particularly christmassy name, but that's probably because my one was born in April.

belindarose · 26/12/2012 11:45

Love it. Almost DS's name but we went for Simon.

mybootsaremuddy · 26/12/2012 15:51

Love it. It is DS2(8rs) name, he goes by the nn Nicky or Nooks(by youngest dc).

Love this name! Go for it, it is really beautiful.

gazzalw · 27/12/2012 09:18

Yes I think it's a lovely name and it's nice to have a name that has some seasonal connotations although not in the same way as Holly....

Homebird8 · 27/12/2012 09:28

Got one of those. Still quite uncommon but pronounceable. St Nicholas is at the beginning of December so not too Christmassy. Hope your little one is as lovely as ours.
