I'm not that keen on it, prefer Rex as a short name.

Snowflakepie · 15/12/2012 16:11

Love it. I would put Christopher on the bc but use this as a nn. So much more funky than Chris, IMO. Also like the short form Kester. Off to scribble that down, I'm struggling for boys names lol!

LaurenCaddy · 15/12/2012 16:12

As in the car from Knightrider? x

ChocolateCoins · 15/12/2012 16:14

I prefer kit as girls name. I have a female friend called kit and she's lovely Smile

LolliLouLou · 15/12/2012 17:28

Love it, and I would just go for Kit on the birth cert!

seeker · 15/12/2012 17:31

As short for Christopher, lovely.

I do know an incredibly posh Topher, though. I do have trouble not giggling!

Chislemum · 15/12/2012 17:33

sounds like that car.... but as a nickname and Christopher on birth certificate, very nice.

farmersdaugther · 15/12/2012 19:08

Love love love love it!!!

If you are just going for Kit without the Christopher etc would you go for double TT? Kitt?

MothershipG · 15/12/2012 19:15

I had a major crush on a Kit at Uni he was seriously cool. But I think it could be a tough one in Primary, accusations of it being a girl's name? Personally I love it. Blush

newby2 · 15/12/2012 20:20

Ha:-) SOme very funny comments. I know- I loved Kit too it's funny though, the more you say it and get used to it the more it becomes a name in it's own right. Who on earth names a child Topher!!!!!

We think Kit's cool as a name itself and pretty rock and roll. We have an interesing surname beginning with Z which goes well with Kit. We probably have a couple of days to go so I'll keep looking for inspiration on here!

Kit is a great name. I'm a little biased though, as its my sons middle name. The only reason I didn't consider as a first name is because I like names where you can choose to shorten/lengthen if you want to later in life, (and I'm not a fan of Christopher). I really like the Cornish name Kitto, which you can shorten to Kit but, even though I think it's cool, it sounds a little feminine to my ears, (even though i had a great, great uncle called that). Kit for me is entirely a boys name though. Some people have said "what? Like the car?! Ha, ha, ha!". I try to smile sweetly rather than point out that actually, the car was K.I.T.T. Sorry to be an 80's tv pedant. I say "no, as in Marlowe" which they either get or they don't. Oops! I've gone on a bit but, in a nutshell, go for it if you love it!!!

LightHousekeeping · 15/12/2012 21:09

I love Kit and would have it on the certificate. I also like Ned, Ted and Rex.

Nivet · 15/12/2012 21:47

I love Kit, it was on our list. We went with Ted.

LightHousekeeping · 15/12/2012 21:49

yes, we have a Ted in our family. Just Ted. Love it although his mum may change her mind when she gets the Ted DVD in her Xmas box

SneezySnatcher · 16/12/2012 10:26

Love it. It's our front runner at the moment!

Nivet · 16/12/2012 21:46

LightHousekeeping I'm purposely avoiding watching Ted!

LightHousekeeping · 16/12/2012 22:02

Well, I prefer Father Ted to that potty mouthed bear!

nurseneedshelp · 16/12/2012 22:07

Lovely name for a girl!

shoobidoo · 16/12/2012 22:59

Kit and Kitty sound so feminine to my ears!

1978andallthat · 17/12/2012 20:07

Love it but not keen on Christopher

Rhubarbgarden · 17/12/2012 21:06

Jamie Theakston has one, I believe.

I quite like it.

suzyrut · 19/12/2012 16:19

Love it too, dp not keen so sadly not made our boy shortlist Xmas Sad

LondonElfInFestiveCheerBoots · 19/12/2012 16:34

Love it, for a boy or girl. Christopher, nn Kit for a boy, and Caitríona, nn Kit for a girl, but I think its one of the few nn's that can stand on their own as a BC name.
