June as a middle name?

Fidget275 · 15/12/2012 09:43

This has been on my mind for a few days .. am due around the time of my late nan's birthday (24 June) and love the idea of honouring her memory by including her name as dc's middle name should I have a girl.

However, i'm not sure if i am 'forcing' myself to like it for sentiments sake and am undecided on a first name as of yet... (Any ideas?)

I do know that if I was due around the time of my grandmothers birthday I would not be considering Doreen so there must be some reason that June is less easy for my mind to dismiss!

All opinions welcome! Xx

I believe middle names should have a purpose.

Honouring a family member, friend, place or something that means something. I think June is a perfect middle name. One syllabled middle names seem to fit in with most names and nice you're breaking free from the 'may' and 'rose' trends which have got a bit overused and common.
Your nan would have been honoured. Lovely idea x

I think it's a good choice of middle name. Do you like any of the following?

Annabel June
Beatrice June
Carina June
Carlotta June
Elodie June
Flora June
Rebecca June
Susannah June
Thea June
Viola June

thumbs up from me. If you like it that's good enough.

I like it on its own terms- plus there's the lovely reason. Go for it.

I think it is a lovely idea, I especially like names linked with the actual date of birth, so June would work well if born in June, but Avril born in September would not!
Your Nan would have been delighted too.

Thanks everyone, becoming a lot more confident with this choice now, especially when I think of my mums face when I announce the name!
Love Elodie and Annabelle, both on my list, but all of the other suggestions are lovely too! So much to think about, there are so many beautiful girls names! Glad I have still got a bit of time! Xx

June is a lovely name - go for it!

My dd was born in June this year. One of her middle names is Alexandra in honour of my late nan. Her name was Dorothy Alexandra. So I guess we should really have gone with Dorothy but I preferred Alexandra. And ultimately it is still in her memory.

I hope your pregnancy is going well Smile

as long as her first name isn't April or May Grin

Ivy June. I had a dream i had a baby called this. It won't happen now as not having any more and dp would have probably vetoed anyway. I always liked June because of June Carter and Johnny Cash.

June is such a lovely name - and even more so if it's remembering a special person.

I also predict a rise in names like June, Jane, Joan, etc - they've been out for a while (some longer than others) - lovely, elegant, simple names as an antidote to the overly frilly ones which have been popular for so long now.

You'll be ahead of the curve. :)

I think June is a really lovely middle name (and first name for that matter), and think honouring your nan makes it even more special.

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 16/12/2012 19:23

I like it. Juno would be another alternative.
