Aargh, names!

So, thinking about names... Completely undecided!

We have recently come across a new name- Ulfur. I am Icelandic, and hopefully soon after the baby is born, we will be living in Iceland again. Ulfur (Ull-foor, not Ull-fur) means Wolf. I've always liked the nickname Wolfie. Would it be alright to nickname him Wolfie? Do you like the name? DH is dual-passport, as are my kids, and this baby will probably be a dual-nationality too. We will hopefully be coming back a lot, and we might even live in Wales (where we are now) or the rest of the UK again, so it can't be too odd.

For boys, our list is-
Ulfur Jakob (Yakob) OR Ulfur Isak (said Issak)- both are Icelandic names, Jakob features in Hebrew (DH's first language due to being Israeli) which is important for us too.

Finnegan Joshua Aharon (Finnegan is non Icelandic, however Finn is quite common in Iceland)

Lukas Benjamin Isaiah Lukas is Icelandic, but also fits into English, which is a good thing for us.

For girls, our list is-

Katrin Elisabet

Susannah Katrin (I love the name Susannah- and as well as Susie for a nickname, there is 'Sanna' which is an Icelandic name)

Kerstin Hanna (both names Icelandic)

Pippi Sofia Katrin (worried about associations with Pippi Longstocking- but my sister, who died when she was six, was called Pippi- Katrin Pippi Sofia?)

Oooh lovely name.....from the girls Pippi wins hands down its a beautiful name and also your meaning behind it is very special! Henrik would be my pick from the boys!

I am not crazy about 'Wolfie' personally, but 'Wolf' is a perfectly legitimate name here in NL so I see nothing wrong with it. It is pronounced more like "woll-fie" but it's more or less the same.

All your names are lovely and very international too (I know women called Sanna/Sanne from NL, Germany & Finland!)

For girls, really like Susannah with nn Sanna and Katrin.

I like Pippi and Henrik too. They are all lovely though Finn is quite popular in the UK if that is something that bothers you.

Thanks. Wolfie would only be his nickname when he was little (and depending if he suited it). Wolf's a cute name/nn too.

I think it's out of Henrik, Pippi, Susannah. Pippi Susannah? I want to remember my sister, but I don't want my daughter to be always a memory of my sister, if you see what I mean- Pippi means something special in the form of my sister, and I'm a bit worried that that'll be conflicted by having a daughter. I think I'll ask my DM if she minds. DH thinks it's a good idea, DS was named after DH's dad, so although not the same, he understands why, and also think it's quite a cute name. Susannah is an English version of Shoshannah, meaning lily in Hebrew.

It's not often I'm minded to post on this forum, but had to say that I like them all, and I think Wolfie is a lovely nickname.
In fact I may nick Kerstin to put on Nipperette's name shortlist.

I can't bear Finn/Finnegan, and there are sooo many of them. It would be a shame not to use something relevant to your heritage.
