Joseph, Rowan or Arthur??

Starting to think of baby names for our bump due in 2013. We are sorted with a girls name we both love, what do you think of these 3 boy's names. Any suggestions of others with a similar style?

I have a Joseph.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 04/12/2012 19:46

Very nice! Until I moved here, I thought of Rowan as a girl's name, don't let that sway you.

Names I have heard lately are Frederick or Fredrick, Hector, Keir, (definitely Keir for a boy not Keira!) and Lewis. I'm in Scotland btw.

CustardIsMyNemesis · 04/12/2012 19:49

Good names! I really like Rowan as its not a name you come across often

ecuse · 04/12/2012 19:53

I like Rohan rather than Rowan. Not so keen on Arthur.

Forgot to say I love Joseph - was going to be our DDs name had she been a boy. As it is, she's Joanna.

Thank you to those who have replied. We were dead set on Rowan initially but had a bad reaction to it when we mentioned to a close family member (wish I hadn't disclosed it!). We have so many lovely little boys in our family group and close friends so a lot of boy's names have already been taken (William, Isaac, Jacob, Theo, Henry, Harry, Freddie, Alexander, Oliver, Tom, Daniel, James, Samuel .... The list go's on!). It makes picking a bit more tricky! 2 of the 3 on that short list are middle names of close relatives already!

I really like Arthur and Joseph. I quite like Rowan but not as much as the other two. Congratulations!

eachtigertires · 04/12/2012 20:54

I like Rowan or Joseph better than Arthur. Congratulations btw!

Rowan is by far my favourite of the three - I know boys and girls called Rowan

then Arthur

then Joseph

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/12/2012 21:54

Rowan - hate it as a girls' name but adore it as a boys'. DD2 would have been it, had she been ds.

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/12/2012 00:02

Arthur!

thekitchenfairy · 05/12/2012 00:36

Rowan! I have a Rowan and a Joseph... love both their Names but especally Rowan, I think because it is not so popular. Took a few family and friends by surprise when we chose it but although we took a few days to decide we have never looked back! GooD luck with your deciding!

Greensleeves · 05/12/2012 00:42

They're all nice but Rowan for me :)

RayanneGraff · 05/12/2012 08:22

Love them all :)

Joseph v popular but classic- make sure you love Joe too!

Arthur lovely name, fairly 'on trend' but also a wonderful name- as above with Artie

Rowan is my fave- fairly uncommon I think, lovely nature name. I wanted it for DS but DH vetoed :(

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 05/12/2012 08:33

I love them all. You have great taste. I have Arthur on my list and might steal Rowan too. Rowan is much less common than Arthur around here and I like that about it. I would have Joseph but its taken by a relative.

Jemimapuddleduk · 05/12/2012 08:40

Thank you for all your lovely comments (I was expecting a couple of negative ones so I am v pleasantly surprised!). I think we are edging back towards Rowan. I like the fact it's relatively uncommon but not too out there. It's also nature inspired and we love the outdoors, it also go's with our girl name choice (if we had another and got a boy/girl sibling set).
