Teddy, Kitt or George

Hi everybody :)

Hope you are all well.

I am really struggling with baby names here, and I was hoping you all might be able to give me some advice on how you all perceive the following names.

My DH loves George for a boy, as does everyone else for that matter, and don't get me wrong, I think it is a lovely name, but just a little...i dunno .... safe.

I grew up with a different name (nothing crazy, I just have boys name as a given name) and I always found it to be a positive contribution to my personality, rather than a negative.

Which brings me onto Kitt, which I know isn't exactly controversial, but it is very different to what my family are used to, and so it's getting a lot of negative feedback. I really like the name, but I'm wondering if you think it's a bit feminine, or cutesy ( which finally brings me to Teddy)

I don't like Christopher or Edward, but I do really love both Teddy and Kitt, but is it wrong to give your child a nn as a given name?

I personally have never had any negative experience from my name, but DH is certain the latter two names will result in a lifetime of bullying.

What does everyone think?

There was a boy in my class at secondary school called Christopher but always known as Kitt, can't remember it ever being an issue at all, it was just his name.

Hi Glam. Just browsing the thread at lunch break when I noticed your choice of names. I love all 3 (not very helpful I know!). I would consider the full names on the birth certificates tho'. My DS has a friend Teddy who is now 16 and is a lovely young man so that's my favourite from your choices but any of the 3 would be great.

I love all 3. I think with Teddy I'd still give Edward / Theodore as a given name.... because as he grows up he might prefer to introduce himself with a more grown up name.

Isn't Kitt spelt with one T? I think it's a lovely name, and fine as a name in it's own right.

Teddy or Kit (with 1 T) are both great. I agree with you that George is a safe name - I like it but all the kids at my ds's school are known as George + surname as there are so many!

Thanks guys, I think George will go in as a middle name, but still cant decide between the other two, its so hard as it is such a big responsibility. Was gonna go for Kitt as opposed to Kit, as we are Army, and the latter does not conjure up positive images when I see it!

I love Kitt, but I think even with one t, with your surname it's not going to work!

I'm not so sure on Teddy, sorry but the only Teddy I know is a pet, sorry not helpful, didn't mean to be negative as I was going to say I love Kitt, until I came to your last post

I love Teddy, it was on our list, but with Edward as given name. We chose a different name in the end, but I would have happily used Teddy.
He can choose to be Edward or Ted as an adult if he prefers.
George is ok, but not v exciting.
Kitt is cute and different.

I love Kit and Teddy.....Kit would be my favourite!

Of the three I prefer George, although much prefer Edward in its entirety.

But I am a "play it safe" kind of person!

Love the name Kitt. Used to go out with a Kit who was short for Christopher. He was so masculine, a rockstar type. It is not girly!

I like Ted rather than Teddy and Kit(t). George is an OK name. Not ever going to set the world on fire.

I like Teddy and Kit. I absolutely would put the full name on the birth certificate though. He might want it for his business cards (or whatever) when he's older. Everyone will call him whatever you call him, I know plenty of people known solely by a nickname.

All three are on our shortlist. I prefer George, but think it's a possibility for the royal baby (not a dreadful thing, but will mean a rise in popularity).

Teddy is absolutely delightful, either stand alone or used with edward as the "official" name.
