Gorgeous name. Apparently my parents considered if for me, but in the end they chose s much more popular 1970s girl's name. Always been a bit Envy that they didn't go with Marianne.

Just realised I sound a bit of a div describing my daughter's name as 'edgy'....best word I could think of. Anyway, use it, it's gorgeous!

Really like it, Marian is a bit old fashioned but maybe due for a resurgence, but Marianne is lovely.

Theas18 · 26/11/2012 09:48

Love it. Prefer Marianne with the "a" sound at the end though in the continental way to the "ann" ending that the UK tends to give it.

shepherdsdelight · 26/11/2012 10:03

love it, love it, love it. I'm too old for more dds so you can use it instead of me!

A very feminine, pretty name.

Frikadellen · 26/11/2012 10:48

Its a pretty classic name

Cahooots · 26/11/2012 10:52

I love this name, it is really pretty. It is perfect Smile

RosannaBanana · 26/11/2012 10:55

Told you it was a Mumsnet fave! Wink

RooneyMara · 26/11/2012 10:55

This was on my girl list but I'm having another boy.

I was going to use Manon for short.

TessOfTheBaublevilles · 26/11/2012 11:45

I absolutely love it.

If we ever had a fourth, we'd consider it for a girl, even though it's similar to DD's middle name.

Djembe · 26/11/2012 12:29

I am the only person on the thread who dislikes it! Grin

On that basis OP, go for it!

baskingseals · 26/11/2012 16:27

agree with everybody - Marianne is gorgeous.
