Like Matilda?

I love the name Matilda but am a bit concerned about it's growing popularity. I just wouldn't want her to be one of a few in her class. But Is it really that popular? I may still use it but have a few weeks to think of other possibilities...

What names are in the same vein but not as popular?

I really like Matilda and was a name I was considering myself until my friend nicked it first! I think it is growing in popularity, but not compared to names such as Lily, Grace or Amelia. The only thing I would bear in mind is what she may be called for short. Most Matilda's end up being called Tilly or Matty - neither of which I am particularly keen on. Hope this helps!

I have a Matilda (who is never shortened btw) who is the only one in her year (though she's 9, it may be more popular now) I know a few of various ages but not loads and loads.

I have other daughters called Natasha, Rebecca, Isabella and Abigail but I don'y know if they're in the same vein on not really. Plus, think the latter two are more popular than Matilda.

How about Melissa, Marissa, Miranda, Madeleine or Mariana?

Thanks! Some nice ideas here... Tabitha is on our list but just don't love it as much as Matilda. Always loved Jemima but dh doesn't. Ivy was our chosen name for ds1 if he'd been a girl but sounds too similar to the hundreds of Evies, Eva's, Avas etc.

Please keep the ideas coming, they're giving me inspiration!

I find girls names so hard. I was so sure dc2 was a boy, we have only thought up boys names!
