Amber?

Pluses:

Simple.
Warm.
Not overly popular (not in top 50 anyway).
Has remained at roughly the same level of popularity for the last decade (so has some 'legs' and will hopefully not be overly associated with our generation).

(Possible) minus:

Very much a dare I say it chavvy working class name?

Its not chavvy. I like it.

Bessie123 · 20/11/2012 21:47

I think it became a more chavvy name in the 20th century but historically it wasn't. And that moon faced posho from made in Chelsea is called amber, she's not a chav

Purplehonesty · 20/11/2012 21:52

I love it

princesslina · 20/11/2012 22:06

I like have added to our ever growing list!

I like it. What would the middle name be. I think you need to be careful what it goes with - something with not too many vowels, and probably longish. In my personal opinion of course.

I've heard Americans say it's thought of as a bit lower class there, but i've no idea if that is accurate. And that wouldn't bother me.

legoballoon · 20/11/2012 22:16

Sorry. Don't like it. Same category as Jade, Gem, Sapphire.

Ruby marginally better.

Go for Margery :)

That's interesting because I'd said if anything that Amber is a bit posher than Jade or Ruby, that those really are names associated with the working class, but I wasn't totally sure, hence the post...

Middle name...I don't know. I'm not TTC, just a baby name geek! Who would like another DC at some point.

Sorry, I'd have said.

Oh I see, I thought it was under consideration for an actual bump Smile

TheKindnessOfStrangers · 21/11/2012 13:02

Possible middle names if and when a bump eventually materialises: Rachel or Maud (both family names).

I like it. I'm putting it on my possibles list!

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/11/2012 14:04

I like it. It has a touch of the bohemian to it.

Bessie "moon faced posho" Grin

squoosh · 21/11/2012 14:05

Makes me think of a beach babe, hippy chick type of woman.

Much nicer than Ruby or Jade.

lakeofshiningwaters · 21/11/2012 18:32

It's not for me. Taught several 3/4 years back. All were not very nice! Though I do know a lovely 20ish one.

Sounds like a 'thing' not a person to me. (Apologies to your no doubt lovely future dc!).
