My Father used it for the family dog, said dog is no longer with us Sad she was a lovely dog, we all loved that dog.

I couldn't use it, could I? Blush Hmm

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
smother · 19/11/2012 14:48

of course you can use it! but only if you tell us what the name is Wink

smother its Isla, annoyingly now it's become hugely hugely popular.

I should mention I was 9 yrs old when we get the dog, I'm quite a bit older now! Grin

Isla is a gorgeous name, go for it

Frontpaw · 19/11/2012 15:10

As long as its not Fido, why not?

monal · 19/11/2012 15:21

My brother's called Calum after a childhood dog. Do it.

ClementineandLilac · 19/11/2012 15:24

Go for it your family will all get used to calling your dd Isla and it will become associated with a cute little girl!

B1ueberryS0rbet · 19/11/2012 15:54

MY PARents' dogs had lovely names. I wouldn't say it's a big no no myself.

jaffacakehips · 19/11/2012 17:17

DH has said...we're not name a baby after your bloody family dog! Sad
stupid man clearly he's from a cat family Grin

Of course you could!! I considered giving DD1 a name closely linked to our dog's name.

I adore my dog :)

CrapBag · 19/11/2012 21:23

Isla isn't a dogs name anyway so you should use it. Grin

baskingseals · 19/11/2012 22:26

my family dog's name was Ella. quite a few of those about now Grin

Isla is lovely - if you love it i would use it.

StetsonsAreCool · 19/11/2012 22:48

My DH named his parents dog - William. He's got to be going on 18ish now. I really want William on my boys list if we have another.

DH said what yours said "You can't give a baby a dog's name". I told him he shouldn't have picked a baby's name for a dog Grin

If you really like the name I say go for it - it's just a coincidence that your favourite girl's name happens to be the name of your dad's dog, right Wink

Ahhh my family pets were Rifka and Tricky. If only!

Isla is lovely, do it.
