opinions please. we only have 4 weeks to go!!
DH boycotted francis as apparently it's "gay". I know I know, but he hates the name. I love the nn frank / Frankie and saw Franklin mentioned.
Franklin George.
What do you think?

Love it. But I'm biased.

trockodile · 12/11/2012 09:18

The only Franklin I know of is Billy Graham's son and is a right wing, bigoted, homophobe

I suppose it has the advantage of not being gay Hmm but no, I don't like it! Sorry!

moogstera1 · 12/11/2012 11:57

What an obscure one to know of! I only knew of Franklin D. Roosevelt

Love the name Franklin

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/11/2012 13:12

Franklin not Franklyn. The y is unnecessary.

Dillydollydaydream · 12/11/2012 14:42

Really like Franklin spelt without the y.

trockodile · 12/11/2012 15:57

Yeah, a bit obscure! Sorry, should have said he is the only relatively modern one! Think it is all the OCC threads, he just makes my skin crawl!

MadameJosephine · 13/11/2012 13:33

Love it. My DS is James Franklin. It's a family name on his dads side (he's American) and tbh I wasn't keen to begin with but love it now.

Gwennan · 14/11/2012 15:24

Didn't like it at first and then I read this and now I think it's pretty cool.

Definitely Franklin, not Franklyn.

GrrrArghZzzzYaayforall8nights · 14/11/2012 16:02

Franklin is lovely name. I'm biased as it is DS2's name.

Spell it with the i though. My HV put it down with a y and I'm constantly having to correct things from the doctors, have no idea why she would assume a y spelling Confused

WitchesTit · 14/11/2012 16:04

Franklinstein.. Sorry.

Fifi2406 · 15/11/2012 08:52

Franklin! Hate when people try to be different and change a later!

moogstera1 · 15/11/2012 09:23

i agree franklin.
TBH I wasn't 100% sure of the proper spelling but Franklin definitely seems better.
Might well be finally decided!

Franklyn is the original English spelling

imnew2nm · 01/05/2020 02:23

The name is old English and would have been spelled with a Y. It would be the Americans who changed it to an I.

babynamelover · 01/05/2020 08:03

I love Franklin, adore Frankie for a boy 😍

Orphlids · 01/05/2020 08:37

Yes, I thought the proper spelling was ‘Franklyn’ too. American version ‘Franklin’. I rather like it. Maybe a bit of a naughty boy’s name, dare I say it? But it’s charismatic and quite exciting. The husband in We Need To Talk About Kevin is a Franklyn, I think. Not really relevant as he was just fictional, but he wasn’t a bigot.
