There is a little girl at my son's nursery called this and I cringe every time I hear her name called. For me anyway, this is an old ladies name and not ready for a comeback yet. Maybe it doesn't help that I've always hated Oliver and find the character of Nancy in that kind of annoying! I much prefer Clemency, which is a bit similar?

cbeebiesatemybrain · 05/11/2012 09:09

Love it! It's my dd's middle name only because dh wouldn't let me use it for her first name. The only comments we get on it are positive.

AnathemaDevice · 05/11/2012 09:54

I love it, it was on my list for DC3, until DH pulled a face at it because he's a miserable git who doesn't like anything I suggest

BiscuitNibbler · 05/11/2012 10:10

It is a nickname for Anne or Agnes, so I wouldn't use it as a first name, but I like it as a nickname.

Ummofumbridge · 05/11/2012 10:11

I love Nancy! If you're not sure though use it as a mn.

Hedwig3 · 05/11/2012 10:25

I like it but it was vetoed by DH along with Hazel.

lilibet · 05/11/2012 10:25

I think it's lovely and if you're really lucky you could get your dh to get you a Smythson's Nancy bag too!

JuliaScurr · 05/11/2012 10:27

It's my name too, I disliked it when I was young because it was unusual, I wanted to be called Emma like the other girls in my class!

FriggFRIGG · 12/11/2012 18:07

I love it,always have!

winkle2 · 13/11/2012 23:52

Love it :)

BonaDea · 14/11/2012 15:02

My mum's name (and my grandma's)

Really like it but aren't naming after any parents!

OnTheBottomWithAWomansWeekly · 14/11/2012 15:06

It's my DD's name, I love it - we still haven't ever met a Nancy younger than her (she's 15).

She's the only one in her school so it's unusual but not unknown (so people know how to pronounce it and spell it).

Beamur · 14/11/2012 15:07

I think it's a character name - I like it.

gnocci · 14/11/2012 15:14

I have one

HotHotNot · 14/11/2012 15:45

My DH chose this for our DD2 age 2, in honour of his mother and grandmother who have Anne in their names but mainly because he loves it. He is no Cameron fan!

I canvassed it on here and it mostly got a thumbs up. In RL it seems to be quite neutral- no one raves about it or winces either. My older DD thinks it is cool. There is a 20something mum at the school with this name who loves having a little namesake.

I think it is a name that will grow well with her Smile . She is certainly a wee character.

Szeli · 14/11/2012 16:47

This was our lo's name until it appeared she was going to be a boy! Still love it as did everyone we came across (except my family... haha)

Don't everyone be using it now tho! haha xx
