What's your naming style?

What type of names do you love? Classic,quirky,place names?,names beginning with a particular letter,royalty,names associated with nature,or from literature?
Do you continue a family name or name them after a musician or author you admire?

For a girl I like pretty, ethereal, uncommon, european, mythology or nature inspired.

For boys I like surname/place names, uncommon, some biblical, "cool but not trendy", one syllable names.

I wish people would give an example. Pretty/Quirky or whatever, its all so subjective.

I tend to like made up names or at least names that people have never heard before. I really like surnames and quite androgynous names, such as spencer, grier, blair.

Also like place names although need to be a bit different, so not India but maybe Aspen, Dallas, Zaire etc.

Also al my DC have a not too traditional hebrew name, so Avigail, Damaris, Jesse etc.

Well according to previous name threads - terribly unimaginative I have 3 daughters, all their names are popular, end in the same letter and I only ever had one name picked - I simply picked my favourite name each time

For girls I often like what posters here always call scullery maid names. Like... Elsie.

For boys, classic but not top hundred.

Normal names which are out of fashion and people think are common.

My kids have Scottish/Irish names. I love their names and they're not over used.

I prefer names that are not very popular.

American, funky, surnamey type names. Not for everyone but I love them!

I like timeless classic names that aren't trendy/fashionable.

I like Victorian names but not boring ones like Victoria or Mary

Utterly common.

Old fashioned, underused and long with great nickname potential....I have only named one child though so not sure it constitutes a style yet!!

Ours are all slightly old fashioned, Scottish names that cannot be misspelt ( or have spelling options ie graeme/Graham) so names like Andrew, Duncan, Heather

We appear to like classic, traditional, slightly 'posh' names that seem to be out of fashion.

Classic some would say boring I guess!

Classic with a quick for the full name, definitely slightly posh. Abbreviated version is very tomboy. Middle names are very 80s and a bit dull.

Whatever style that turns out to be, its very much against the grain of the other babies around my way!
