I love Khurshid but wonder if it?s maybe a bit too ?adult? for a tiny baby! Do you know any baby Khurshids? If not what about the others on our shortlist? Open to other suggestions in a similar style!

Sorry Khurshid

ArthurShappey · 04/11/2012 21:52

To my non-Muslim ear I would assume Khurshid was a boy, it sounds quite masculine.

Parveen is quite common I think, but I may be wrong? Farreha is my favourite from your list and sounds feminine.

The only other Muslim Pakistani names I know belong to friends of mine Aquila, Marium and Madiha (although I'm now wondering if Madiha is Bangladeshi?), all very feminine sounding to my ears.

Are there no other names you like that sound feisty but feminine at the same time?

Go with the name you love! Although we've all given our opinions it's only your two that really matter. Once your little one is named they just 'become' that name & no-one else's opinion will matter. Unless it's reeeeaaaalllly awful :) Go for it!

I think Parveen is a lovely name. Never heard of Fareeha before but it has a lovely sound to it too! Kurshid does sound masculine but I don't think that's a bad thing and if it's pronounced Kursheed (which I have no idea if it is....excuse my ignorance) then it's much nicer and more feminine and would definitely go up my list! All good choices I think.

I'd go for parveen, I used to know a lovely girl called parveen.

Viviennemary · 06/11/2012 21:25

I like Parveen best. I knew one a few years ago and she was beautiful. So now I think all Parveen's must be beautful. Grin

oh no, not khurshid, i dont know any khurshids under 60 years old sorry, to me your names are all older lady names.

fareeha is the least bad but really there are so many nice pakistani names.

how about things like saira, samiha, sobia, aisha, alia, amna?

doctordwt · 07/11/2012 11:30

I'm not Asian and don't 'know' any of the names but to me Parveen has by far the most beautiful sound, and Khurshid sounds masculine.

Firawla · 07/11/2012 11:33

I like fareeha best, i thought khurshid sounded boyish too I've not come across any but would have presumed it's a boy sorry!

VolumeOfACone · 07/11/2012 13:18

Parveen is lovely.

oohlaalaa · 08/11/2012 11:36

Fareesha. It is pretty and feminine.

squoosh · 08/11/2012 16:08

I've never heard the name before so my first thought is that Khurshid looks masculine.

Fareeha is nice

Parveen is beautiful!

CouthyMowEatingBraiiiiinz · 08/11/2012 16:15

Parveen sounds lovely.

BeehavingBaby · 09/11/2012 11:21

I love Kushi as a nickname and the full name is very elegant.

birdofthenorth · 09/11/2012 12:07

Parveen then Fareeha then Khurshid, which in the full version sounds a little masculine to me, too. Parveen and Fareeha are lovely.
