Faith

I already have a wee girl called Amelia, and had more or less decided on Keira for my second wee girl.... Now having a massive wobble!!

I have discovered the name Faith, and my other half is very religious (me too, but not quite as much) and when we first got together he was always telling me to have Faith. What are your feelings on virtue names? Would Faith go well with older sister Amelia? Would there be an issue with only one child having a virtue name. Look forward to reading your opinions.

Thanks.

I think Amelia and Faith sound lovely together and Faith is a beautiful name.

GrimmaTheNome · 19/10/2012 18:19

I tend to feel that 'virtue' names are too loaded - they label a child with its parent's values or aspirations, which they may or may not grow up to adhere to.

pumpkinsweetie · 19/10/2012 18:25

One of my dds is called Faith, we called her it after Faith in Buffy Smile

Amelia and Faith would go very nicely together.

MolotovBomb · 19/10/2012 19:35

Faith is lovely - much nicer than Keira, IMO. Virtue names are classic/classy. Go with your heart on this one :)

jaffacakehips · 19/10/2012 20:04

Keira is much much much better than Faith!

Stick with Keira.

PandaNot · 19/10/2012 20:09

Faith is lovely. I know of three in our small village.

GW297 · 20/10/2012 00:49

Prefer Keira!

Snowflakepie · 20/10/2012 10:15

Love Faith, of the virtue names I think it is the easiest to live with, after all faith can take many forms and so is not quite so restrictive as some of the others! Wasn't Faith the psycho in Buffy? Although she came good at the end. Don't ink too many people would make that link now x

PinkChampagneandStrawberries · 20/10/2012 10:17

I love faith and I love Amelia

Faith much much nicer!!!

HappyTurquoise · 21/10/2012 07:50

I prefer the name Faith, but didn't know the name Kiera existed until I met one recently. You will have to spell Keira for people more often.

Gwennan · 21/10/2012 08:39

Keira is quite a harsh-sounding name to my ears. Faith is much softer-sounding and therefore I prefer it. Faith & Amelia sound like sisters.

WitchesTit · 21/10/2012 08:45

Faith is my favourite. I don't really like Keira (is it after knightly?).

I like virtue names and names that mean something, I also like Hope, Clemency and Blithe.

nameuschangeus · 21/10/2012 08:47

Faith is beautiful.
Keira not so much but I do have an irrational hate of open mouthed Knightley so may be biased

baskingseals · 21/10/2012 09:50

much prefer Faith to Keira. it is a lovely name, and goes very well with Amelia.

babysbreath · 21/10/2012 15:10

I think you should opt for Faith, as I am not at all keen on Keira. I think the name Faith is timeless.

MadamFollywillFreakyouout · 21/10/2012 19:15

I love Faith and I am an atheist.

StellaNova · 22/10/2012 11:12

I like Faith. I would make the Buffy link but I am a geek.

pumpkinsweetie I tried to get all kinds of Buffy names past DH - we had Anya on the list until he found out why.

pumpkinsweetie · 22/10/2012 11:15

Grin Stella Buffy was my Dhs fave programme.
Did quite like Cordellia but of course other people moaned when i mentioned it, so Faith it wasSmile

Dummyhunter · 22/10/2012 13:27

We have a Faith! and always get comments about what a lovely name it is - but beware of people making 'Little Faith' or 'Poor Faith' comments which l always found negative so in our house she will be forever Baby Faith!

LonelyCloud · 22/10/2012 16:54

I like Faith much better than Keira.

Felicitywascold · 22/10/2012 16:58

Faith is lovely and goes well with Amelia.

I like 'non matchy names' I would have been Hmm if you had said 'I have a Hope and a Grace, what do you think of Faith for the third girl'?

pigletpower · 22/10/2012 17:07

My youngest daughter is Felicity Faith. I would have liked Faith as a first name.My eldest daughter is Hattie Hope.
