12 wks left to go and no idea what we are going to call bump! No idea if its a boy or a girl, but here are the names we are liking at the moment. Would love your honest opinions about them.

Girls:
Scarlett
Ruby
Tahlia or Thalia (not sure which sp we like) but would be said tah-lee-a
Ava

I love Esme but DH having none of it! I aslo love Isabelle but cant have it for family reasons so either that or Belle might become a middle name!

Boys:
Alexander nn either Alex or Xander
Reuben
Max
Harry

Would love your honest answers and any other name ideas please

Thanks x

My faves are Thalia and Reuben.

I would scrub Ava and Harry, as they are too popular.

same as marcheline Grin

Thalia and Reuben

Nancy66 · 13/10/2012 16:08

Like Esme but none of your other choices - too popular, apart from Thalia which I'm not keen on.

Boys names also all too popular for my liking.

mumbaisapphire · 13/10/2012 16:50

Scarlett is my favourite. A nice strong name. Much prefer it to Ruby - I always compare them as they derive from the same colour. Ava is pretty, but popular. Tahlia I'm not crazy about. If you do go for it, I would personally avoid the Thalia spelling as it reminds me of the Indian dish Thali - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thali - which in itself is delicious, but not sure it works for a name. If you stick to Tahlia you avoid this.

Harry and Alexander are my favourites from your boys names.

Thalia and Alexander

I like Scarlett. Ava is very popular, not keen on Thalia, not a fan of reuben. x Love Alexander- is on my shortlist.

Notnowcato · 15/10/2012 15:30

FWIW: I would have gone for Alexander but am a northerner living in the south and couldn't bear everyone pronouncing DS's name differently to the way my husband and I would pronounce it. Harry is good, Max very popular here. I don't like Reuben.

Scarlett and Thalia (or Talia) are nice names but not uncommon here (there are two or three of each in my DC's school - 200 in the school) and, sorry, don't like Ava. Ruby is nice. (Odd that I like Ruby but not Reuben. Can't explain that.)

AlfieBear87 · 15/10/2012 15:51

I like Ava and Harry the best - they're popular for a reason :)

Also, the popularity thing really depends on the area you're in - I have a 10 month old Harry and have yet to meet another baby/toddler Harry despite going to numerous baby groups, drop ins, swimming lessons etc.

manicinsomniac · 15/10/2012 19:16

Scarlett - it's ok but not that keen. A bit 'hard'
Ruby - don't like it. Never have but not sure why.
Tahlia or Thalia - quite like it
Ava - love it

Alexander nn either Alex or Xander - love it, particularly with nn Xander
Reuben - love it
Max - quite like it
Harry - love it

I would choose Ava and Alexander, closely followed by Reuben

HolyAutumnGoldBatman · 15/10/2012 21:04

Scarlett - nice
Ruby - nice
Tahlia or Thalia - not keen
Ava - nice, but too popular for me

Alexander nn either Alex or Xander - nice, but too popular
Reuben - love it
Max - fine, but a bit meh
Harry - really like it and don't know any little Harry's although it is quite high up in the popularity thing.

KenandDeirdre · 15/10/2012 21:11

Sorry - I only like Ruby from the girls list. Your boys names are fine (apart from Reuben) but just far too popular at the moment. But then does that really matter?
