What do you think of when you hear this name?

Or perhaps a better question is do you like it?

Friend's sister. Really nice name, feminine but grown up too. I was amazed, looking at the recent name stats, that most Lucys are not Lucindas any more. It gives you Cinda, Cindy as well as Lucy and Lou but mostly is much more of a complete, impressive name than just Lucy, which is lovely but a bit cute.

Love it. Have just suggested it as an option on another thread in fact! I knew one at school and thought it was lovely then. Her sister was Annabelle, which to me sounded great together.

It is beautiful. Its my favourite girls name at the moment.

Lucinda is a lovely name. But I think Lucy is prettier, IMO.

"I was amazed, looking at the recent name stats, that most Lucys are not Lucindas any more."

Lucinda is an elaboration of Lucy/Lucia, invented by Cervantes for Don Quixote in 1605. Lucy is the older name, having been used since the 12th century and itself derived from the Latin name Lucia.

I think "why not Lucy"? Lucy is a pretty and classic name so no need to over-egg it with the "inda" at the end.

It's nice but I do feel you'd have to buy her a pony for her fifth birthday. Do you have a paddock?

shoppingtrolley · 05/10/2012 14:29

Lol justfloating

I love it wanted to use it as a middle name for my little bump by OH not keen- surprised how unusual it is too

Minty82 · 05/10/2012 14:41

justfloating you just made me spurt tea at the screen. You've captured my image of a Lucinda precisely, although it is a pretty name. To me it's my friend's ex-girlfriend from when we were at school - pashmina and pearl earrings at 15...

AyeOopMoose · 05/10/2012 19:52

Like it but DH vetoed it for DD2 as "too horsey".

Littlesurprise · 09/10/2012 13:56

Ugly.

FunnysInLaJardin · 09/10/2012 13:59

I like it, but the only Lucinda I have ever know was frightfully posh. Question is, are you posh enough?
