I love it!

effingwotsits · 02/10/2012 22:26

Not great. Sorry.

YouMayLogOut · 02/10/2012 22:27

I like it :)

pinkandyellowbutterfly · 02/10/2012 22:28

I taught a Glory at school, it was very cute. Not a Gloria though.

Anonymumous · 02/10/2012 22:35

Secretly I really like it, but Gloria Hunniford puts me off. I also like Glory (although it is a bit similar to 'gory' I suppose).

Lyftiduft · 02/10/2012 22:48

My first thought is Tara Fitzgerald's character in Brassed Off and the line 'glorious tits more like' when she first appears (sorry- I've shown it at school, adolescent boys have a good snigger then).

squoosh · 02/10/2012 23:26

I love it. A breath of fresh air.

ripsishere · 03/10/2012 05:40

I think it's a fantastic name. DD could have been Gloria except the second letter of her surname is L so it sounded rubbish.

hatebeak · 03/10/2012 11:32

Fabulous. I know a little Gloria - it's such a strong name without being silly. I quite like Glory too, but then maybe it's a bit Buffy The Vampire Slayer - and a bit harder to pull off...

Pasiphae · 03/10/2012 14:05

It's a great name.
And Glorianna too.

Jusfloatingby · 03/10/2012 17:02

Really don't like it. It makes me think of an old fashioned pinny and curlers type woman.

delilah88 · 03/10/2012 17:33

It's brilliant - I really like it. Well done you thinking up such a happy, unexpected name!

MadBusLady · 03/10/2012 17:39

Love it. And Glory is a great nn.

littletomato · 03/10/2012 17:46

I used to have a bad impression of the name Gloria, too girly/80s/something. but now i think it's come around and is starting to sound fresh (to me) again. Go for it!!

nancerama · 03/10/2012 17:50

It was the name of my auntie. Glo for short. She was the most amazing, vivacious, brave, determined, fearless lady I have ever met. I miss her every day. It would have been DS's middle name if he'd been a girl.

TheMightyMojoceratops · 03/10/2012 17:52

Glooo-ooo-ooo-oo-oo-ooo-ooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ria... Hosanna in excelsis!!

Londonmrss · 03/10/2012 17:57

Love it because of Patti Smith's version of the song 'Gloria'.

Ilovedaintynuts · 03/10/2012 17:58

Awful. Know a few old battle axes called Gloria.
All the people suggesting 'glory' as a NN have never heard of "glory hole" then? A fairly well known sexual fetish Wink

squoosh · 03/10/2012 18:01

I do like that hymn, alternatively it could be

I'm gonna shout it all night gloria
I'm gonna shout it every day gloria
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah,
Looks so good gloria
All right, feel so good gloria

MadBusLady · 03/10/2012 18:02

Y-yes, but I wouldn't associate the two any more than I'd snigger every time I hear the word "cottage". Words can have multiple meanings and associations, and some are stronger/weaker than others. I don't think Glory is anything like as strongly associated with glory holes than (for example) Fanny is with, er, fanjos.

NymphadoraTonks · 03/10/2012 19:23

I think its going to have a comeback in the next few years

YokoOhNo · 03/10/2012 19:33

My MIL.

Also, if you're Catholic, it's just reminds me of singing the "Gloria".

fromo · 04/10/2012 18:29

Thank you! SO pleased at the positive response!!
