Hi all

Apart from 'Ju' is there another NN for Juliet/Juliette?

I really like this name but a dear cousin was called Julie and sadly died and everyone called her Ju, so wouldn't feel right.

Also, which spelling is best?

Many thanks!

Jules is a popular NN for either spelling Smile

I prefer Juliette. It's a beautiful name.

As for NN, I know a Jules. Alternatively you could make something up from the 2nd half of the name ('liette' could become Leah/Letty)

Jet which I think is cool

delilah88 · 25/09/2012 20:02

Those are both lovely names. Jules I like as a nn. And Jet! Very 'gladiators'!

I know a Violet who is Lettie but reckon Lettie for Juliet would work well too

nbee84 · 25/09/2012 20:23

My niece Juliet is often called Etty. And as her middle name is Elizabeth her parents call her Etty Betty Grin

Diamond7 · 25/09/2012 20:24

Jules/Jooles

Like Etty!

HenriettaChicken · 25/09/2012 20:25

I think Ettie is beautiful.

rachel1970 · 26/09/2012 14:25

Julie would be the obvious nickname for me.

rachel1970 · 26/09/2012 14:25

Jules sounds masculine, a common nickname for Julian.

Jeezimacasalinga · 26/09/2012 15:20

Our Giulia (Italian spelling of Julia) is called Juju by her brother and sister (don't know if I recommend this Hmm) and dh calls her Giulietta (Julietta) which is apparently how it's 'shortened' in Italy. Except of course it isn't shorter..... Probably not been very helpful have I? Good luck!

StellaNova · 26/09/2012 15:22

I don't think Jules sounds masculine, I know loads of Jools/ Jules - there's Jools Oliver for one

StellaNova · 26/09/2012 15:22

Er, not that I know her personally...

Diamond7 · 26/09/2012 16:15

I don't think Jules in masculine either. Only ever know female's called Jules. 2 to be precise.

HiHowAreYou · 27/09/2012 10:23

I like Etta.

CharlieCoCo · 27/09/2012 18:41

charlottehere · 27/09/2012 18:44

birdofthenorth · 27/09/2012 20:12

Lovely gorgeous name. Prefer Juliet.

Like Jules, Juju, Ettie as nns- but they will come naturally.
