Augustus, Monty or Thomas

My baby boy is being delivered by c section next Monday and I'm struggling to choose his name. Me and my husband have got it down to these three but I've over-thought it all and think they might be too weird.
Help! Any thoughts?

I'd go for Thomas - lovely classic biblical name.

persephoneplum · 24/09/2012 15:17

Augustus by a very long way! Thomas doesn't rate for me. Is Monty short for something?

Mama1980 · 24/09/2012 15:19

I like Augustus and Thomas by would choose Augustus myself.

Melaniemamma · 24/09/2012 15:19

Monty is short for Montague...

Monty!

BobbiFleckman · 24/09/2012 15:22

I can't get past Augustus Gloop on Augustus.

LonelyCloud · 24/09/2012 15:23

I like Thomas best. Good classic name.

I don't like Gus or Gussie, so that rules out Augustus for me. And Monty just makes me think of Uncle Monty in Withnail & I.

delilah88 · 24/09/2012 16:23

Thomas!

SurreyWithAFringeOnTop · 24/09/2012 16:30

Monty or Gus (Augustus). Not Thomas - dull dull dull

TurkeyDino · 24/09/2012 16:52

Thomas all the way! Would have used it for ds2 if my best friend hadn't used it already.

Ham69 · 24/09/2012 17:21

Thomas is nice enough but too many of them! I love Monty (possibly short for Montgomery?) and Augustus. Be brave, don't go for 'safe'!

LuellaLovesLavender · 24/09/2012 17:46

Oooh definitely Monty it's gorgeous.....Thomas is boring and Augustus would not be my cup of tea but it's better than Thomas!

sonniebonnie · 24/09/2012 18:41

Augustus is lovely, as is Monty! Both lovely, classic underused names that will stick in people's minds easily.

Thomas/Tom, on the other hand, is rather dull and overused imo. There are lots of them around already.

poppydaisy · 24/09/2012 18:45

I have to agree that Montague/Monty and Augustus are cool names that aren't as overused as Thomas. I partidularly like Montague/Monty!

EldonAve · 24/09/2012 18:46

Monty or Thomas

Augustus reminds me of Charlie & the chocolate factory

peggyblackett · 24/09/2012 18:47

Monty :)

amck5700 · 24/09/2012 18:48

Thomas is nice but is fairly straightforward compared to your other two. Monty is okay as a nn but prefer Montgomery but that's a big name for a little person....as is Augustus too - What about Austin which a version of Augustus but a bit easier to carry off.

A vote for Monty! I like Thomas too though. If you went for Thomas you could have a Thomas Monty (but maybe not a Monty Thomas too tongue-twistery?)!

squoosh · 24/09/2012 19:14

Augustus! Gus is a great nickname.

Thomas is dull.

Monty wears tweed trousers, smells of wet labrador and take every opportunity to try and rub his aged todger up against each fine filly he sees.
