Would this come across as a bit narcissistic?

First DC due at the beginning of December and we know he's a boy. We're pretty much set on Christopher Hugh, using Kit as an everyday/nickname.

However, it's just occurred to me (duh!) that my name is Kate, and it might sound a bit odd/egotistical that his name is so similar to mine. DH thinks it's a non-issue and it hadn't occurred to him either, but now I've started thinking about it I'm starting to wonder if people will think it's odd...

So I'm putting it to the MN jury - thanks!

Lovely, Kit is a well known nickname for Christopher, much nicer than Chris IMO.

I don't think anyone will think you've named him after yourself, I don't even think the Kit Kat thing will come up either, unless you call yourself Kat for short of course!

My friend stressed about this as they called ds1 Lucas and she was called Lucy - to my knowledge she was the only one who ever worried about it!

Love Kit for Christopher.

Have an Auntie Chris(Christine) so always have trouble thinking of Chris as masculine.

Not helped by a very sweet, but wet behind the ears boy friend called ChrisGrin

Kate and Kit wouldn't strike me at all.

Kit is a great name.
Even when a child has exactly the same name as a parent (not that I think that Kit and Kate are all that similar anyway), it would never occur to me that it was narcissistic. I would just assume it was a traditional/family name with some significance for the family to carry it on, if you see what I mean.

No problem. Anyway, you are about to change your name to...

Mummy Thanks
